Yes, you can easily have blockage in the hot water pipe, from the heater, the heater draws the water off the top so it doesn't pick up the crud, but you got some in there anyway. I take it you have an electric water heater and copper pipe? Galvanized pipe would make it worse, plastic, wouldn't be so bad. The bottom of the heater is probably full of stuff,, There is really no way to get it out short of cutting the pipe and banging on it, turn on the water and let it flush. If you have a joint in the line that is a different metal, like galv to copper, it will build up there. The electric heater creates a current like a chrome plating machine, only it is a crud plating machine, like the zincs on a boat, they will be the first to go, there is a rod in the heater that is the first to go, yours is probably gone. Hard water, mineral deposits, etc, add to it. Check it out, Hope this helps.

I am going to say that the blockage is most likely in the faucet itself. try and disconnect the line that is going to the faucet line and turn on the valve and see if the water pressure is there -- if you have pressure there then the blockage is in the faucet,, but if there is no water coming out the line then I would say that the problem is most likely a busted/cracked pipe down the line or that blockage is at the valve,,, turn off the main water supply and remove the valve and then turn the water back on and see if the line clears out. but I would look under the house at the pipes and see if there is a leak anywhere. the only time that I have seen high amounts of debris in a water pipe is when the pipe breaks under ground,, and if that happened to you then you would have blockage at every faucet. but it could be just a small piece of rust in the mix valve of the faucet. with the water valves off, remove the mixer from the faucet and inspect and clean.
if you are still having troubles -- please feel free to write me back here and I will do my best to walk you thru the steps to fix.
