Hi. thanks for the question. to replace belt . lift up top, remove front panel, slip belt over drum. reinstall front and top, and clean all lint . pull dryer from wall ,remove back panel . motor on right, idler pulley on left, pull belt through idler and to your motor.

The belt will look a little to big. It has to go in and out of pulleys that put pressure on the belt to make it tighter. You will have to play around until it looks right.

You can check out this website for step by step directions:

this site has proper belt routing pictures for several brands maytag included might be helpful the only other thing i can think of the idler may be worn out or bent or drum may be tight not turning properly should turn freely with belt loose from inside dryer
should be able to push vanes and rotate drum easily

Need to change belt on maytag dryer but dont know how to do it on this model . any help would be great

Get the Model number and order a Dryer Maint Kit from either of these sites.

If you have the belt already then open the dryer door and there should be a couple screws in the opening where the door normally closes at the top. Remove those and then the door should be able to completely come off then you will have access to the belt area.
Good Luck!

Installing a belt on a maytag dryer the belt seem to be too big what's the solution

you probably don't have it strung right thru the idler pulley by the motor, thats if you have the right length belt to start with, measure it with the old one to be sure

Replace dryer belt

Pull the front panel off, remove the top screws and tilt top back. Rout the new belt around drum at the old wear spot with the grooved side against the drum. Next remove the back access door and rout the belt around the idler pulley and motor pulley. There is only one way to do this and get proper tension on the belt.
Also, when you order the belt, ask if it has a belt routing diagram on the belt package.

Belt came off try to replace but to big

You may have a tension pulley on it which you will have to run the belt through to make it tight. This is primarily for making it easier to put on. Also check the motor bracket that turns the belt and see that it is still in place and not loose. This can happen over time with all the vibration that occurs. Let me know how this turns out.

Go to repairclinic.com and click on the "Repair Help" link at the top of the page. On the next page look for "Dryer Belt Diagrams" under the Special Features section. There is an extensive list of dryer belt diagram illustrations available that you can print out. Maytag is listed. Hope this helps you.

Maytag Electric Dryer - replace belt

The belt needs to be above the metal. Otherwise the repair looks good. Easy fix. Thanks for the pic.

Unfortunately the motor now needs to be replaced. New motors cost around $125-$150 and are fairly tricky to install.
