The carburetor on your Toro 418ZR snow blower is located on the right side of the unit above the rear wheel (if standing behind the snow blower). You will have to remove the top main cover and the starter housing to access the carburetor cover and assembly. Here's a part diagram that may help out: http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Jacks-Parts-Lookup/Manufacturer/toro/5860/62997

Why can't Ford motor be started?

It takes a surprising amount of liquid gasoline to fire an engine when fuel is not atomized by the carburetor.

You need at least a tablespoons and it needs to be down the throat of the carburetor or into the intake manifold.

Try the following; Remove the air filter assembly and filter. Spray a 2 second burst of starter fluid directly down the carburetor throat. Promptly start.

Backfiring won't start bought new coils still won't start and pops backfires

Do you have a carburetor? If you do, it is set too rich. Also, your timing appears off. If you do have a carburetor, adjust the setting to the left a couple of turns. This will lean out the gas mixture. If you have a fuel injector, have the system checked. The air filter could be clogged and the fuel injector could be misaligned.

A backfire is often created because the timing is off, forcing the spark plugs to fire before the pistons get to the top of its power stroke, causing the mixture to burn prematurely.

Rider has sat for years. New batter, new spark plug. Cranks but won't start.

Carburetor needs cleaned, in fact the whole fuel system; tank, lines, filter, carburetor. The carburetor may even need a rebuild, but you can start with a cleaning and go from there.

I hope this is helpful for you and you get it going soon.

1998 Ducati Monster 750 won't start. Ticks over ok, but won't "fire". New fuel in tank only two days ago, ran several trips since, just won't start now. Tried push-start, sounds like...

Carburetors could be dirty/blocked. Open throttle and spray carburetor cleaner in them, wait a few minutes, then start. Also spray carburetor cleaner again when revving. Should fix it.
Also, try starting with no choke and no throttle. It could be flooding.
Clean spark plugs.

While the motor turns when i pull the cod, the engine does not start. it started and ran only 4 seconds, now it won't start.

sounds like a fuel issue, put a little gas in the carburetor and see if it starts, it should. then disconnect the line from the carburetor and see if fuel comes out if it does then the carburetor float and needle are stuck, you will need to clean it up and see if it works, if not then buy a new carburetor. Good Luck Tim

Bought this lawn mower. It was sitting for two years and now it won't start.

first things first:
1) make sure that the kill for the magneto/coil is breaking contact( it is on the side of the mower, follow the cable down from the red bar)
2) gas to carburetor
3) spark to plug/s
4) gas to cylinder/s

pull plug and try starting mower, observe spark plug for spark and fuel coming out of cylinder/s. if spark no gas, then check to see if it getting to the carburetor, if it is then it is the float and seat in the carburetor and will need to be cleaned/replaced/rebuilt. Or just simple pour gas into the carburetor and try starting if it starts then it is the fuel line, carburetor. Hope this helped Tim
