Look real close up where pilot tube is attached at fitting at burner end, and you will find a small pinhole on side of fitting. Use a paper clip, or similar, and poke it in that hole and work it around a bit to clean out any debris, or small spider web that may have collected in there. That's basically your intake air for your pilot, and when plugged it will cause a yellow weak pilot flame. Best option is to blow compressed air into that hole if available. That should get pilot burning blue again. Then, when cool, Clean off thermocouple end that sits above pilot flame as well with fine steel wool, or a small wire brush to allow it to sense flame better as it probably has gathered some soot on it now. Once that's all good, try lighting heater again, and see if that doesn't cure it. Be sure to adjust air shutter on burner so that flame is nice and blue, with just a little hint of yellow at tip. You want best/bluest flame, but not so much that it roars like a lion and jumps off the burner. Quiet but blue as well. If pilot was yellow and weak, and burner was roaring, it will draw flame from pilot , away from thermocouple, thus thermocouple cools too much and shuts down gas.

The water heating burner does not go out there is a small like pilot light burning after the temp shuts off on the main burner.

Bad gas control valve? Wrong gas control valve for water heater?
This is a dangerous condition... immediate repair needed ... fire and explosion hazard.
Call plumber... or replace heater

Pilot light doesn't stay lit

The thermocouple may have failed. It looks like a copper wire that goes from the gas valve and leads to the pilot light. My first thought is that the pilot light burner is not burning hot enough because its got dust in it or a spider web blocking some of the air it needs to burn hot. If the pilot stays on long enough to bring the main burner on, a dirty main burner lighting rough will cause the pilot to snuff out. To do the actual repair I would suggest that you contact the manufacturer on the internet. Getting up to your elbows in a gas appliance without professional help is asking for dangerous serious trouble. Good luck.

Bradford White gas power vent water heater; just replaced power vent motor and fan assembly because a bearing went out. Now the new fan motor runs constantly without igniting. Is there a switch that...

Some how you have disconnected the sensor that tells the main burner that the fan is on. Its trying to light but cant. On some models there is a air pressure switch that reads the pressure inside the vent pipe itself. It will have a small hose on it and if that has cracked or was not replaced it wont light. This is how its supposed to work--- vent fan comes on,sensor confirms fan is on,hot surface ignighter starts to glow red,and main burner is opened, another sensor confirms that main burner is lit, then hot surface ignighter turns off. Hope this helps.

I have a Bosch GWH 425 HN Tankless Hot Water Heater...On 2/28/2010, it began intermittant exploding when demand for hot water occurred. Local technicians worked on the unit several times, changed and...

I have the same problem with the same model. The problem has been identified by a friend of mine, correctly, I think.
This is a very dangerous problem involving Bosch's much touted safety feature, ironically enough. IT IS THE FLAME SENSOR IN THE GAS VALVE. The flame sensor is supposed to confirm that the pilot has lighted BEFORE the main gas line sends gas to the main burners, after which the pilot shuts off. The pilot light is not coming on, the sensor that shouldn't let gas fto the main burners is failing and the main gas is flowing and ignighting from the spark that is supposed to light only the pilot in a big explosion.
This is the 2nd unit of this model that has failed. I think Bosch should do a recall

Pilot light keeps going out

Either the pilot light orfice is dirty, and you will need to pull it out and clean it, or the thermocouple is bad. If the pilot goes out as soon as you let the button go then it is most likely the thermocouple. If the pilot stays lit for a few days or hours then you will need to clean the pilot orfice, heres how:
1 turn off the gas supply
2 unhook the main burner gas line from the thermostat, this is the line that goes to the burner
3 unhook the pilot supply line it is usually next to the main burner line
4 unhook the thermocouple from the thermostat
5 remove the burner assembly
6 take the orfice out of the pilot line and clean it out by blowing thru it, use an air compressor if needed.
7 reassemble and light pilot
