How many OZ grease require in transmission gear case
SOURCE: Hobart A200
amy, depending on how old your mixer is there are 2 types of clutches for 1st gear.these could be your problems--a key is sheared on the shaft--shaft/gear is broken.the bottom part of the mixer where you put on the attachements is called the planetary, does it look like it has moved down?you could tell if the dough hook, wire whip, ect, ect is hitting the bottom of the bowl.if this is the case its just simply tightening the 2 nuts next to the beater shaft.if this is not the case you would have to dissasemble the transmission.let me know.

Where is it leaking grease from?Im a hobart tech and service these mixers. When i go into work i will get you the part # for the grease. You would then have to contact your local hobart branch, tell them the part # and pick up the grease.

Your A200 was manufactured in 1942. It may well be time for an overhaul. If it were only noisy, I would suggest re-greasing it, as that would quiet it down somewhat. With 60+ years on the unit, the odds suggest rebuild time. Before you commit to that, take the top cover off the unit, remove two dust covers, insert a hi-intensity flashlight into one hole and look inside the other, look for excessive wear on the gears. If you see excessive wear, and still want to re-build then call for a Hobart tech and warm up your checkbook, OR, pose the re-build question to bigg t (the Hobart tech on this website). He may be able to help you out. ricardok45

No, do not use Shell or Chevron grease or oil.
It will damage the gears and the interior of the machine. You must use food grade grease.
If you use industrial heavy duty grease you might have trouble with the local Code Enforcement ( if this machine is used in a restaurant or bakery )
depending on your state's rules, laws.
Here is a website for the grease:
