most apps out there are designed for mobile phone use only... Not for tablets... you need to check and see with the app itself. I have a Tab 3 and had to try 5-6 card games before I could get one to work right.

Did you download an app to read the ebooks? Such as kindle or nook? And there are generic app for reading too! You might go into google play to see if they offer a reading app. I don't know tour device but surely it has a place to go for apps and most have a reading app.
from "manage space" send it to sd card. Many apps are not permitted to be moved to sd card if you still want to remove then "root" your android device and get whatever you want. But first know everything about "root" then go for it. If you know what is rooting then you can do anything with the android device even making a app a system app, controlling frequency of your processor and many more!!
