My sister in law has a window unit that probably just over a year old. Now when attempting to turn it on nothing happens. I checked the breaker box nothing is tripped. they can't locate the manual so don't know what to try next>

Try resetting the GFI breaker, assuming it is connected to one. Also check the main breaker panel to make sure the breaker is not tripped. Unfortunately the electronic panels do go bad in these systems after a few years of service. Try resetting the unit. There should be a tiny reset button on the back. Also if the bucket is full it will not turn on, make sure it is in place and seated properly or it will not turn on. There may be a reset on the cord itself as well, hope this helps.
When you say nothing, do you mean nothing? No lights, no indication of power etc? If that is so I would make sure that the plug it is in did not trip on Ground Fault. Most kitchens have GF plugs by law and they are very sensitive and trip very easily. If you are sure it has power are there any indicator lights? If not you will need to disassemble the unit because you have probably blown the thermal fuse. It is a small metal can inline with the power. Usually about 170 degrees celcius. Could be hotter. Rating is marked on the side. Check with a DMM for continuity and replace if necessary. If the fuse isn't bad then you either have a bad switch or a bad heating element. Unless the heating element is replaceable you will have to buy a new unit. Check all the components I mentioned and get back to me.
hi there, I don't think it's the power cord or power supply. If it doesn't turn on, then the motherboard is probably gone. i could be wrong, but if you press the power button and nothing happens, no lights on, no noises, then the motherboard is probably defective.
By the way, unplug the power cord, disconnect the battery and wait for a couple minutes. Re insert the battery and plug the power back and press the power button and see if it goes on.
The vent fan TCO is a normally open type. I would say you replaced it with a normally closed type.
Probably the only TCO that was bad would have been the magnetron TCO.
If you still have the old vent TCO, I'd reinstall it.

NOTE: There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.
