LG 37LCD2d My television seems to be turning the screen off after being on for an extended period of time. The longer I wait to turn it back on after this happens, the longer it takes for the "black screen of death" to happen. The backlight seems to still be on but there is no image and I am not able to change inputs. No audio coming through either. How would I go about fixing it or should I just take to a shop?

SOURCE: Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.

It's your power supply. have it taken care of ASAP before damage happens on the board where it can't be repaired, just replaced, "if they can find one".

SOURCE: 20" lg LCD backlight turns off after about 5 seconds of use.

First, check the power supply for the backlight. It's usually a 24 volt supply. Look for swollen caps. If that is ok, go to the inverter board and inspect for damage, ohm out the inverter transformers. Last is to test out the lamps seperately with an external inverter. If a lamp goes out this way, it is bad and causing the whole backlight to go out.

Hi have a 42LED5510-tb the screen turns off intermittetly when on for 2hrs to 3hrs. I have contacted LG service 2 times and both times they said that the tv has a 3 year warranty wait till the problem gets...

Hi Mario,
Since your unit is under warranty period, don't ever attempt to open the back panel because it will void the warranty. Give proper ventilation on the back panel, keep away all obstruction from the vent to allow sufficient air flow. This will avoid trigger the over heat temperature sensor from the processor which caused the subsequent shutdown. If the symptom still persist, inform LG service center that the symptom already got worst :-)

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Screen stock on Software Upgrade Application

First of all the software update may not have been done yet, when tv's go through an update (depending on which update) the set can turn it's self off and seem to be done, but you need to wait it out and the set will turn it's self back on, Wait it out for about 30 minutes before doing anything. be paitent. UNPLUGGING THE SET CAN DAMMAGE THE TV DURRING A SOFTWARE UPGRADE!!!

If after a LONG period of time try unplugging the set and re-setting the micro. But only as a last resort!

If the upgrad failed and you can't get the set to function properly you need to change the ssb board. If the set is in waranty, waranty should cover this.
