XP is already installed right. The key you use to install windows is your product key. This is used by Microsoft to generate a new set of letter and numbers called the activation key. The key above looks to me to be a product key can be used to install windows most likely, but you may run into the same problem activating xp. I am not sure what error you are getting when you try to activate, but I have seen them all. Before you go looking for ways to work around activation try this first. This is the best and easiest way to get a new product key and valid activation for the XP version installed on your computer ; ) ;)
start xp activation again. This time select call to activate or activate xp by phone NOT the activate windows on line. Call the number given to you on the screen it is a free call. When someone answers let them know( IF THEY EVEN ASK) that you got your computer back from the the repair shop that upgraded your RAM,HARDDRIVE, VIDEO CARD and removed the spyware and viruses from your system. something like that what ever your case may be right. This type of service causes Xp activation to mess up all the time so they are use to it. This is what they are there for. To help you activate your copy of windows that must have had the xp keys and system configuration corrupted because of the changes in the hardware PARTS and the removal of the malishish programs that were remove from your system right. you probly will not even have to use that much detail just if they ask how they can help you just let them know your computer was activated before and when you got it back from some upgrades and virus removals it is now asking you to reactivate your copy of XP. They will tell you to enter some numbers and do a few thing on your computer. They tell you what to enter an how just numbers and letters then they will ask for the output code that appears. They may ask you for your windows product key I could not read mine and I told them that and one time the sticker with the key came unglued and was not on my computer when I got it back from the shop in other words lost. The code above will not work to activate your system ACTIVATION codes are made using a combination of your hardware setup or {parts installed} in otherwords and a product key code, making the activation code for you computer, and only your computer. A product code is not the same as activation code. I have done this 25+ times to reactivate XP SYSTEMS I HAVE UPGRADED or updated, then prompting me activate software I had already activated. And then the activation not wanting to work or saying my copy of windows may not valid. I just called the phone activation and never had someone be rude or not walk me though a way to activate and fix my copy of xp .Remeber your xp was activated before the repairs you need help to reactivate right O.K
like I said it is fast an easy and you will not have problems with getting your XP software upgrades from Microsoft. If you just work around activation or trick it into activation yes it can be done, why go Thru all that trouble, to have a system that may or may not pass the MICROSOFT GENUINE SOFTWARE test for software upgrades that you will need. If you call microsoft they will tell you what to do and when you are done with the call your computer will pass microsoft activations in the future and let you download free software from microsoft that you may want or need later.
