Lens is jammed - Samsung PL120 Digital Camera

This is a situation where the lens has jammed in it housing, there is a motor that extends and retracts the lens. One of two tings have happened, the motor has seized, or the gears have jammed preventing the lens from moving. This will require a camera technician to see if it's possible to repair lens in the housing.

This is either due to a cracked internal roller or a cracked/broken internal cam. The lens will have to be sent to Tamron for repair.

you have a mechanical jam in the lens gear chain. It happens often when lens is extended, the camera may have slight impact or pressure on the lens, it damages the plastic gear chain and jams. You can try with very light force, jiggle the lens while tuning on the power to disengage from the jam. If this does not help, you need a help from repair technician. I fixed my v1253 following these steps:
1. Pulled the battery when the lens starts to come out before it could power itself off.
2. Gently pull the telescope out until it clicks.
3. Use a fine tip paint brush to clear debris out of the cracks.
Camera works just fine now.

You have impact damage, the gears in the lens are out of alignment.

1} LUBRICATE THE JUNCTION WHERE LENS GET ATTACHED TO THE BODY WITH KEROSENE THEN TRY TO RELEASE THE LENS.REMOVE THE BATTERY FROM CAMERA ,TRY AND HEAT UP THE JUNCTION WITH HAIR DRYER A LITTLEBIT THEN TRY TO RELEASE THE LENS.

2}IF THIS THING ALSO DOESN'T WORK THEN YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE THE LENS PLASTIC MOUNT PUT SOME SHARP KNIFE LIKE OBJECT IN THE JUNCTION OF LENS & CAMERA & THEN PUSH IT UPWARDS WHICH WILL BREAK ONE OF THE PLASTIC LENS MOUNT COLLOR AND LENS WILL COME OUT WITHOUT DAMAGING YOUR CAMERA .LATER YOU CAN GET REPLACED THE LENS MOUNT FROM SERVICE PERSON. BUT NOW ATLEAST YOU CAN USE CAMERA WITH OTHER LENSES.

The dust fibers from the case might have gotten into the cracks of the lens causing it to jam. So everytime it retracts, it jams. That's what i'm guessing. My old camera got jammed from sand grains on the beach.


- Take a thin strip of paper, and insert it in the cracks of the lens and circle around the lens and find any dust or anything. The paper slip should come out a bit dirty if that's the issue.

- Gently nudge the lens around, until you hear a click. The lens might have jerked into another position from the inside.

I have just experienced the same problem with the lens jamming. I bought it for my wife having been impressed with the EX-Z500 my daughter bought. She had the same problem last year and paid for an expensive repair, then I found that her partner's sister had also bought one and.......you've guessed it...the lens jammed on that one too.

So that's another three Casio EX-Z500 digital cameras to add to your list of Casio generic lens jamming problems.
