Have a self-starting, self propelled Toro walk-behind lawn mower w/a Briggs & Stratton engine, 190cc, about 5 years old. I ran it out of gas & now it won't start and because its self starting can't find a choke or pump primer - it was working perfectly so don't think its spark plug. One suggestion was to buy a new gas tank lid that has a primer bulb in the actual screw on cover as this is common, you agree ?
It seems to be an obstruction in your fuel delivery system. Get a can of ether and a spray a short burst of it into the breather area near the carburetor, if the mower starts up and then stalls out, then you may need to get your carburetor serviced.

You've done most of the things, except you didn't mention ceaning the air filter, but perhaps you incuded that cleaning the carb. You could have a cracked gas hose,

I am strictly Briggs&Stratton. They are hard to start when the fuel tank is half empty. Clean the plug and air filter.

Does the mower die right away (cuts out) or does it sputter to a halt. Sputtering out would indicate a fuel problem. If it just cuts out when hot, then more likely an ignition problem. Your coil may need replacing. Take a close look at the coil wire (spark plug wire) and its routing. Make sure it's not touching part of the engine where it's heating up and has caused a "leak" to ground it out when it gets hot. If all is well then check your spark when the engine is hot and cuts out. Make sure you have a very good blue spark and not a weak one (check it cold first and then compare!). Again, indicating a possible ignition coil problem. Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

maybe u have to much oil in it or there mite be a stone in the carberator or petrol tank thats blocking the petrol ?
