are you sure not working at all nokia n-series? try other n-series phone first, my first opinion is that your n72 is 'locked' (or co-branding with an operator) let's say for example 'indiacell' operator.now u also have to try other simcard from other operator to your n72, does the same thing occur? if it does, it means ur phone is locked. u have to unlocked it (i think that would be illegal, but everybody does it)

Ask the place where you buy it, what operator does it locked up with, try search a technician near your place, and flash it with unlocked software. then you can use it with any card. good luck

this phone might have been made only to detect the airtel sim cards as the phone in question might have been made only for the air tel company
in collaboration with nokia .

so there might be no code for it to allow all the sim cards .

imagine it like the cdma phone distributed by reliance communications

go to settings .. phone settings .. thn operators selection ... manual ... and u check the network ... and see if airtel is available in ur loacality .... if availble .. th ni twuld work ....

If you by your phone on airtel offer it might be blocked by them (airtel). You need to format the software and reinstall the software.
