Foul odor when I start a load of laundry

Obviously this problem exists on this manufactured machine (Cabrio). It has to do with the design of the machine and the HE detergent required to be used. We are on city water and the smell is sewage gas. Hence, do your whites last with lots of Clorox/bleach, cause the detergent isn't strong enoug to kill the bacteria growing in the pipes. That being said, P

Musty smell

Run your machine through its cycle with NO clothes and when it is filling up with water put bleach in the water. Put bleach in only at the start of cycle.
Before you do this clean all inside parts the best you can yes with bleach and you can run something like fleecy to make clothes soft and smell nice when you wash your clothes as well. Our machine has a special holder to put softener in.
Do NOT have clothes in when running the heavy bleach through it. This should kill the bacteria .

I have a 4 years old GE top loading washer - model number 2090D... it was fine till last night that it stop at the last ''drain and spin'' cycle... and I smell a burn smell too when I notice the washer...

It may be possiblr by the way you explained the symptoms, that the tomer may have shorted out .That would be the most likely problem of the burning smell, and the case of no water entering the tub .

Washer shuts off and I have a burning smell

You might be starting to have a problem with your motor coupling. It sounds like an expensive part but it really isn't, it costs around 10 dollars. The motor coupling sits in between the motor and the transmission, it basically connects the two. When the washer goes into it's spin cycle is starts to spin the motor arm where the motor coupling connects to the transmission making the washer spin. If you smell a burning smell it may be the gasket around the motor coupling. It's a simple and cheap fix. When you tip the machine back your can put your hand between the motor and the transmission and you can feel the gasket around the motor coupling. It's about the size of a silver dollar. If it feels thin at all and you can feel dents in it or any spots that feel torn then replace it. Just remove the few screws holding the motor up and remove the black clamps and it will fall. The motor coupling will come right off with it. Make sure you unplug the washer first though. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful to you. Good luck.
