Hp psc 1610 freezes and will not complete connecting to device

This all-in-one printer/scanner/copier used to be connected to this computer. For the past 5 months I used a Kodak instead and now when I am trying to reconnect the hp 1610, I am having an issue. It will print fine, but can't scan or copy as it says that I need to install or run device software. I have tried using the install CD and each time I get to the point where I need to connect the device, it says "Device Detected, Waiting for Device Setup to finish. This may take several minutes." It shows the progress at 8/8 with the green indicator all the way to the end except for one bar, and then just hangs there. I tried downloading the driver software and doing it from that point, but it couldn't even find the device then. Any ideas?

I had HP 1610 for a couple of years too. I upgraded to Windows Vista and All hell broke lose. My scanner does not work I barley can print. What happen. I've been cursed my Windows Vista.

The disk you have may not be Windows Vista ready. Try downloading the drivers from HP for Vista from the link below.

Hi,

Im very sure that you encountered that message when trying to scaning using the HP Director / HP solution center. Here are the steps that i want you to do inorder to solve the issue.

1. Insert the CD that you used to install the Software.
2. The Window for installation will pop-up, CLICK ON UNINSTALL. (note: make sure that you unplug the usb cable from the back of your computer before uninstalling the SOftware).
3. When done, restart your computer.
4. Re-insert the CD and Click on INSTALL.

The reason why you encounter such problem might have something to do with the corrupted components of the Software installed in your pc.

How to install hp psc 1610 scanner

Click on the Link to download the driver :

Select your OS;
Select the Full feature Driver;
Click on Download ;
Save to your desktop;
and then run the software;

Remember do not connect the USB cable until it ask you to do so .

Hey,

This usb printer can only be connected to one pc at a time, you could use a USB SWITCH to connect both computers to the switch and printer into the other end, so with the press of a button you could connect the printer from port 1 (pc1) to port 2 (pc2)
