Headphone output is usually dependent on the source's volume setting and are not a good way to transfer signal between devices. RCA is the way to go as it is independent of the volume control. Many TV's have a setting for the audio output to select variable or fixed (independent of the TV volume setting). Look for it.

What are connections and connectors for audio output to wireless headset

Hi Richard,

First, you'll need to determine which type of input(s) the wireless headset transmitter has. Most common is the 3.5mm stereo plug designed to slip into the headphone jack of a TV, MP3 player, cell phone, etc. Some transmitters have adapters in the box to allow connecting to the Left and Right channel RCA / phono style jacks found on other components such as CD, DVD, VCR, Stereo receivers / amplifiers, etc.

You'll need to find OUTPUTS of the CD and TV that match the plug on the wireless headset transmitter. If yours doesn't include adapters to go from say the RCA jacks mentioned above - to whatever connector that the transmitter input has - you'll need to go to your local Radio Shack store or similar store to see if they can provide an adapter that will allow you to connect.

Here are a couple plugs / adapters:

Above: A "3.5mm stereo patch cable". Your transmitter may have a cable with an end like this to plug into the TV's headphone jack.

These cables / adapters are typically $5 to $10 maximum.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Sylvania wireless headphones

Instructions
1
Set up the transmitter. Wireless headphones rely on a transmitter that sends audio via infrared or radio waves to your headset. Use the digital audio output (coaxial or optical), RCA outputs (red and white) or headphone jack on your TV to connect the transmitter. The connection will depend upon which outputs are available on your TV and/or the transmitter.
2
Use an RCA-to-headphone adapter. If you don't have a headphone jack on your TV and the transmitter includes only a headphone connection, connect an RCA-to-female headphone connector. This will allow you to plug the wireless transmitter into the female headphone end and then hook the RCA ends into your television's audio outputs. You may also need a 3.5 mm (mini jack)-to-1/4-inch adapter if the headphone plug on the transmitter doesn't match the television jack.

3
Set the transmitter on top of, or next to, the television. For infrared transmitters, you'll need a direct path between the headphones and the transmitter. Placing the transmitter on or near the TV will allow you to take advantage of the clear path you already have.
4
Plug in the transmitter and turn it on. Charge the headphones if necessary.
5
Turn on the headphones. Adjust the volume and settings and you're ready to watch TV.

Ok so 1 of my kidos has the RCA 20F420T tv, and i guess there is no headphone jack hole, so i went and bought adapter that plugs into the av jacks, still doesnt work can you please help!!!

Without knowing the specifics on this adapter - I can provide only provide some clues as to how this works.

Basically, the A/V jacks on a TV has a "fixed" audio output level - this means that the sound levels on the A/V jacks is NOT controlled by the volume control of the TV itself. You should be able to set the TV volume to minimum and then use the adapter's volume control to make the earphone / headphone sound louder and softer. Your TV however, may have a setting in the menu that can change the audio from "fixed" to "variable". If set to "variable", when turning the volume down for the TV's built in speakers will also turn the volume down on the A/V jacks as well. You do not want this to work like that as the sound in the headphones and the TV speakers will be same - instead of the TV speakers being off and the headphones on.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thanks!

I am attempting to use my sennheiser rs 110 headphones with my lcd-led tv. the componet jacks coming out of the transmitter are red and black. All my componets on the tv are red and white. so when i plug...

What are you plugging your 2 RCA connectors (from the headphones) into on the television?
You are correct, usually:
White = Left Red = Right

In this case
Black = Left Red = Right
Not sure....guess some manufacturers need to be different...
Back to the issue,
You to need to connect the Black to White and Red to Red to the TV BUT you need to make sure you are connecting to an OUTPUT and not to an INPUT on the TV. Most newer TV's do have an "audio out RCA jacks" on the TV but not all. It should be labeled at the connector if it is an output, or just another input. You can always consult the TV manual to be sure.

Few things you can do to test
  • Does your TV have a "headphone jack", use the adapter (2 RCA female - 3.5mm connector) to plug into the headphone jack and see if there is sound
  • Connect the Black and Red RCAs from the headphones directly to the another output, like a DVD player, CD Player etc....

I hope this helps,

How to find JVC AV27320 headphone jack? I've plugged into the avs(red & white) in the front panel as well as the extra ones in the back. Altho - I CAN hear the sound thru the headphones, The external...

This model doesn't have a headphone jack. The only JVC TV in the series that does is the model AV-20D202. For the JVC AV-2732, use the RCA audio out jacks with an RCA to 3.5 mm adapter to connect to the headphones. The front audio jacks are audio in (for the audio from a video camera for example).

When you use any external speakers or headphones through the audio out jacks, make sure to turn off the TV speakers. Press Menu and navigate down to TV Speakers (up/down arrows). Then use the right/left arrows to select Off and then Exit the menu. Make sure you scroll the TV volume before doing this. Note: if your headphones do not have a volume control they are a bad choice for this type of audio output.

You can find the manual for the TV here: http://books.jvc.com/booklist.asp?Model=AV-27230 .

I wish that I had better news for you.

Sega genesis has a proprietary plug which goes to a standard RCA Style cable. They go for about $9 on eBay.

Or you can get one from Amazon here.

The jack will not fit in my tv

There are lots of different sized jack plug adapters on the market, you should be able to find one to do the job. I would try Amazon first, they have a good range and decent pictures of products.

How do you hook up headphones?

If there is no headphone jack on your TV, see if it has RCA-style audio outputs. These are sometimes labeled as "monitor". You can buy a headphone adapter that will plug into these at an electronics supply store.
Be sure to get one with a volume control because the RCA outputs are 1 Volt max which can produce deafening sound levels in headphones.

Intermittent audio...picture fine

Does this model have a headphone jack? If so, plug a pair of headphones or external speaker into the jack, turn the volume to an acceptable listening level and see if the problem goes away. If so, the headphone jack may be bad.
