Exterior Fan not starting.

The interior unit comes on normally, but the exterior unit - compressor starts - fan does not. Fuses check OK - compressor stops in short time. Fan never starts, just a hum, and hot to touch. Could the fan be the problem, or starter relay??? Help please.

Its the problem with the fan. !1 or more coils have burnt out and if repaired will have to rewind the shorted coil/armature. Better to replace the fan. Also when getting it repaired ask them to check the thermostat too...............sodeep

Is there a reset button on a FASCO D9709 AC unit?

Hello, the fan in the interior unit takes a few minutes to start in heating mode.
If you are talking of the fan in the exterior unit, then that fan is stuck or burned.
If you try to use in cold mode and the fan of the interior unit dont run, then you have problems in the electronic board.

Temperature gauge goes up down

that is a strange one , i think the problem is with the exterior temp sender as the fan cutting in and temp gauge falling is what you'd expect ,try diconnecting the exterior temp gauge ,may be a fuse for it ,if that is all ok i'd get the ECU checked as may be getting a short let me know how it goes

Interior lights and exterior lights are dim, along with heater fan running slow, when first starting car. After a few seconds, lights brighten and fan speeds up. What is it?

For some reason the alternator output is very low when the lights are dim. Something happens to bring output up to normal when they get bright.
Slipping belt, or an electrical problem.

I have a trane XB1000 unit (DOB around 2000). Was cooling fine, but noted a whining noise at the outside unit. Loudest near the base below compressor tank. Interior filter clean, a-coil fairly clean,...

If the sound is coming from the outdoor unit, check fan blade if unbalance and if the compressor is making the noise, an internal mounting spring must be broken, be ready to replace the compressor when the internal pipe got broken.
