Digital tuning My TV has locked onto channel 1 when in digital mode and won't tune to any other station. OK on analogue. Cannot get any response to any reset mode in digital so cannot retune

Thanks for your response I had already reset the TV using this method. It seems the TV goes into a locked mode when an auto retune has been interupted and can only be reset by going through the factory reset procedure. Of course there are no instructions to cover this!

    cant complete digital tuning

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2014

I bought a small karaoke machine to my television which worked perfectly until I retuned the television to get digital channels. Now the tv/av outlet does not work. I have bought new cables, tried all sorts of connections but the best I get is just a blue screen.

You'll need to go into service mode and do a factory reset.
To enter service mode you'll need to press these buttons on your remote in the following order:-
Standby-info-menu-mute-standby.You'll need to do it fairly quickly and be patient it doesn't always go into it first time, don't press and hold the buttons.
The service menu should appear on the screen.Use the up /down cursor to scan down to option number 12 (factory reset)and then press the right cursor wait will appear on the screen and the set will go to standby(don't worry this is normal)
Reboot the set and retune and all should be well

  • Roger Davies Nov 05, 2007

There wouldn't be any instruction for this in the manual as it's purely a service only menu. The only other solution I can think of would be to a digital software upgrade (there are some available for this model.

Of course I don't know what version is on the set or,indeed what country you're in.If you know how to access you're firmware version (it's in the digital menu) and post a reply I can tell you if it's up to date(off the top of my head I think it's 1015)

I followed the instructions but it did not work as my remote does not have the standby function, which I had to press on the box. I am in Australia. I contacted Thomson some time ago and they said that this model was no longer supported. Thomson set top box division has now gone into liquidation and been taken over by Strong. I think that I will have to scrap it.

Just got digital service, can't tune the stations

Check and make sure that your TV has compatibility tuner [analogue / Digital] provided inside. If not, you have to buy a digital to analogue converter to receive digital transmission. Refer the device user manual for details. If f the tuner is digital/analogue compatible; and you can't receive digital channels, it is faulty. The tuner have to be replaced. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

TV won't recognize channels. Help

Without knowing where you are in the world let me ask
are you trying to tune analogue or digital stations
Here in australia analogue tv has been discontinued and all transmissions are in digital.
your tv even though it says HDready does not have a digital tuner
so if you are scanning for digital you won't have any luck

If i am correct the only option will be a digital set top box or a newer model tv..

How do i tune the channels on a toshiba rc3910

Hi
Before tuning the set to auto tune mode, make sure the antenna or cable, whatever may, connected to its appropriate sockets at the back of the set firmly. To make it autotune:

As new services are broadcast, it will be necessary to

re-tune the television in order to view them.

Auto Tuning will completely re-tune the television

and can be used to update the channel list. It is

recommended that Auto Tuning is run periodically to
ensure that all new services are added. All current

channels and settings, i.e. locked channels, will be
lost.

[1] Select the SETUP from the main menu by using

Up or Down buttons. Press OK and Setup menu
will be displayed.

[2] Select the Installation from the Setup menu

by using Up or Down buttons. Press OK and
Installation menu will be displayed.

]3] Select Automatic Channel Scan from the Installation

menu by using Up or Down buttons and press OK.

A screen will appear warning that previous digital

programmes and settings will be deleted. Select Yes
and press OK to continue with the Auto tuning.

The television will start to search for all available

stations. You must allow the television to complete

the search. When the search is complete the Auto

tuning screen will display the total number of
services found.

* After search is completed for digital channels, a

message asking whether to search for analogue
channels appears on the screen

** Press the OK button to search for analogue

channels. The following menu appears on the screen
for analogue channel search
OK.

How do I manually/automatically update the channels on my Samsung DNli DV3 TV?

Hi Hugh.

Please follow these instructions to manually/automatically update the digital (DTV) channels on the Samsung LE26R73BD.

Please use the following buttons on your Samsung remote control to navigate the on-screen menus:

- "D.MENU" - Opens/closes the on-screen menu (below the numerical key "0")
- DIRECTIONAL ARROW KEYS - To navigate up/down/left right through the on-screen menus
- "ENTER/OK" - Selects/confirms a selected option (in the centre of the arrows)

Automatic Channel Scan / Update:

1. Make sure you are in digital TV mode - Press the "TV/DTV" button on the remote to switch between analogue (ATV) and digital (DTV) modes.
2. Press the "D.MENU" key
3. Highlight "Installation" (first option) and press "OK/ENTER"
4. If asked for a PIN code, enter 0 0 0 0 using the numerical keys on the remote. If you have set a different PIN code, please enter your own code here.
5. Highlight "Select County" and press "OK/ENTER"
6. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to select "UK" then press "OK/ENTER"
7. Highlight "Auto Scanning" and press "ENTER/OK"
8. Highlight "Scan Mode" and use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to set the value to "Digital"
9. Highlight "Start Frequency" and use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to set the value to "CH 21 . . ."
10. Highlight "End Frequency" and use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to set the value to "CH 69 . . ."
11. Highlight "Start Frequency" again and then press "OK/ENTER" to start the channel scan.

Some of the options above will already be selected so will not need to be changed. I've provided the correct settings just in case they are incorrectly set. Note: UK Freeview stations are on channels 21 to 69 inclusive.

The scan will take a few minutes to complete and the progress will be displayed. When the channel scan is complete, the menu should close automatically and the TV will return to viewing mode. If not, press either the "D.MENU" or "EXIT" button to return to watching TV.

Manual Channel Scan / Update:

7. Highlight "Manual Scanning" and press "ENTER/OK"
8. Highlight "Scan Mode" and use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to set the value to "Digital"
9. Highlight "Channel Number" and use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to choose which channel number you wish to scan . . .

UK Freeview stations are on channels 21 to 69 inclusive. In manual tuning mode, these need to be scanned one at a time. Please note, many of these channels are "empty". UK Freeview only uses 5 of these channels (called Multiplexes or MUX) or 6 if you have HD. I am unable to tell you which 5 channels these are as they vary according to whichever transmitter or repeater station your aerial is aligned to.

10. Press "OK/ENTER" to start the channel scan.
11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for each additonal channel you wish to scan.

Please note: Manual scanning can cause some unexpected results - particularly if your aerial has a reception from more than one transmitter/repeater. For this reason it is better to use the automatical scan unless you have a specific reason for needing to scan manually.

Hopefully this will be all you need to update the digital channels on your TV. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

I need a user manual for a Techwood LVD2263D flatscreen tv. I cannot install & re-tune to view TV channels

~

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service and Installation Instructions as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

Technika tv lcd 19-907 tuning in to sky in bedroom.

Hi i had the same problem but i have sorted mine now. What i was doing wrong was i wasnt tuning in the analoge channels only the freeview digital ones. To do this you need to first turn your tv on. Then press the "source" button, this will bring up a little menu at the top left hand side. When this menu comes up press the "Programme +" button (the one that you use for changing channels near the volume button) press this until you get up to "TV", when T.V is highlighted just wait 3 secs and it will switch over. You will probably get a blue screen with a no signal message (you are now on analogue) when you get this blue screen press the "tune" button. It will automatically start tuning in all of your channels, at first they will be fuzzy but as it works they will become clearer. Your sky channel will also be tuned in. When mine tuned in it didnt tune them in on the right numbers though, bbc2 was on number 1 etc. If you ever need to use a playstation or something it goes into the scart connection at the side of the t.v and you need to press "source" and go up to "scart". To get back onto the digital channels just press "dtv/dvd".
hope i helped!

Digital TV Stations

The term digital in this case is the mechanism used to tune in stations. Rather than making adjustments using a front dial to fine tune the stations, there are digital circuits that will lock in the station. The "digital" stations you are referring to now are the over-air digital broadcasts what use a different method for transfering the signals over the air. These stations now broadcast a digital stream of information rather than an analogue TV signal. If you are using an antenna for receiving these over-air broadcasts, you will require a converter.
