The scanner will not recognize a bad barcode. the scanner appears to learn the barcode, but will not recognize a barcode that has been removed from the label or completely obliterated with a laundry marker. If we move the label slightly closer to the scanner it will occasionally detect the bad label. However;all attempts to reposition the scanner did not solve the problems. the scanner is between 3 and 4 inches from the labl

There are many factors that can make a barcode a "bad" barcode. Moving the barcode closer or farther from the scanner won't solve many of the attributes that make a barcode "bad". It may have a wrong check digit. It may be the wrong type of symbol, or the scanner may not be programmed to see this type of symbol. It may be printed in a color the scanner has difficulty seeing. The substrate or the bars may be too reflective. The scanner may be at the wrong angle (not just distance) from the barcode. Most scanners need to see the barcoce at about 60 degrees--90 degrees is always a problem.

Can you email me a pdf of the barcode? I may be able to identify the problem from that.

I dint get connection with my pc. to my USB.. it is not recognizing

Does some other USB device work properly when connected to the USB port that you are trying to use with your Transcend Barcode Scanner?

Did you try to connect the Transcend Barcode Scanner to some other computer? If so, did the other computer recognize it?

If the Transcend Barcode Scanner is "brand-new", did the packaging for it come with a CD-ROM that you need to use -before- trying to connect the Transcend Barcode Scanner to your computer?

I just recieved the Unitech MS 183 barcode scanner. The unit when pluged into the computer, will scan one barcode then shut off (The red receptive light no longer appears) and the one barcode scanned will...

The scanner has several modes of operation after reading a barcode. But I comment it may be bad configuration. Check that the mode of connection is correct (usb, keyboard wedge, RS232, etc.). All this programming is done with the user manual, through configuration barcodes. If you do not, then you can download from www.ute.com.

The scanner is scanning but no data is transmitted to the PC

I also purchased a Symbol LS4071 and when I connected this scanner (purchased at a great discount through eBay) to my computer using the keyboard wedge (with a ps2 connection - the round connector - the connector is split like a "Y") I received the error message that my computer could not recognize this external hardware. I went to barcodediscount.com and ordered the usb connector for this scanner as usb connections are usually recognized. The part # for this connector is STI85-0200R. It cost 72.55 with shipping, but I received the scanner at such a wonderful price that I thought I'd chance it and try it with a usb rather than a keyboard wedge connector.
The computer immediately recognized the usb connection, and the usb connector comes with a manual with codes to enable proper scanning, but still no luck getting the data into the computer. So I called Symbol's technical support department. The technician told me to remove the rubber "boot" at the bottom of the hand held scanner (not the scanner base) by pulling on the front of it (where the 2 little round circles are). It's tough to remove, but keep at it. Then gently remove the battery and unplug it, then plug it back in and reattach the base. He said this would reset the battery. Voila!!!! Sucess!!!!

If your scanner's keyboard wedge connection is recognized (a little popup window will say that it is a Symbol barcode scanner and that it is installed and ready to use), try taking the battery out and putting it back in to reset it. Hopefully this will also work for you. Symbol's technical support # is (800) 722-6234.

Letter G appear at the end of barcode

you have a "suffix" programmed into the barcode scanner. this is a common feature and allows for auditing (like a user signature) these can be removed, The code book should have pages of option programming barcodes, in which you should be able to find a section on programming prefixes and suffixes, there should be a control barcode which clears all suffixes. This should solve your problem
