The monitor goes blank a second or two after turning on. Cannot get the screen to stay on. power button shows blue (on) but blank screen. Shows desktop for a second then goes blank.
The monitor you have has bad components on the circuit boards inside.
This is a classic problem with all LCD monitors.
I rebuild them on a daily basis so I recognize the symptoms.
I would suggest finding someone who can do component level repair on the circuit boards inside.
I also suggest not trying to repair yourself as there are many breakable components to them as well as components inside that do not like static electricity discharges.
I had the same problem, I replaced the 4 transistors (C5706) on the inverter board and then I had a very beautiful picture once again. Although I used (C5707) transistors because that is what I had on hand and have used them in other Dell monitors.
