The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto on Mac or Windows Photo Gallery on Windows.
You most likely need to install the software that came with the camera before trying to connect the camera to your computer.
The software most likely came on a CD in the package with the camera.
If you no longer have the CD, you can download the software from Olympus
Using a USB lead, you shouldn't need a driver or other software. The computer can recognise the camera memory as a removable drive without actually recognising the camera as a camera. Try looking in "My Computer" for an extra drive (Under "Devices with Removable Storage") and opening that. There should be directories with picture files in them that you can drag to your desktop.
Many people find it more convenient to just take the memory card out of the computer and put it in a card reader, especially now that these readers are built into computers and printers. You can't get the pics from the camera's internal memory that way though.
Software, driver, and manuals can be downloaded from this page.
Here is the software download page, the camera does not need drivers. When you connect it to the computer will be recognised as an external disk. You can download the software to manage the camera and the files.
" i'm told the f drive has been deleted ???????????????
it seems that your computer is not recognising the camera. How do you connect it via USB . check the USB cable or the installation / driver software of your camera. and if every thing is ok and still the computer is not recognising the camera you can transfer the images thru card reader.
