At the end of the wash the washing powder and conditioner are still in their original compartments. I appears that the water is only going into the pre-wash compartment. Help!
Thanks for rapid response. My washing machine is a ten year old Whirlpool AWM 324. I have just removed the dispenser drawer and prodded something at the very back. All seems to be working again for the time being. Thanks again!! Fingers crossedThanks for rapid response. My washing machine is a ten year old Whirlpool AWM 324. It's probably just caked with powder or conditioner and needs cleaned. Your handbook gives instructions on how to remove the drawer. Alternatively the dispenser to drum inlet hose may be blocked and some hot water may clear that.
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
See if the water is actually running into the washing powder tray by using these guidance notes (written for another problem!). A quick and easy way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes. In a few cases I have come across, the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.
Now if the water is NOT pouring into the washing powder tray an engineer call is required ;-0(
Good luck,
John C
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @14:24 Wed afternoon,
I am presuming you do not have a manual- most manuals can be obtained on-line. I think there is an advert somewhere on this site! No! No commission!
3 compartments - pre-wash powder, wash powder and finally conditioner/softener. As you do not say what make and model yours is we will 'cheat' a bit to find out which is which!
If you pull the drawer out just enough to be able to see into it, then put the machine on pre-wash for a few seconds you should be able to see into which compartment the water is running! Do the same with the main wash. You are then left with the conditioner one which, when you look at the whole drawer, one looks distinctly different from the other 2. With our Bosch it is in the middle but with our daughter's (can't remember which make it is!) the conditioner tray is on the right.
Good luck!
The conditioner or rinse aid goes in the smallest of the 3 compartments, it sometimes has a cover in it.
The wash powder goes in the largest of the compartments
Trust this helps.
Washing powder should go in the right hand side compartment, if it is not going down, then check that water is coming into washer.
Conditioner should go in the smallest of the compartments.

There are usually 3 compartments in the drawer, the smallest is for using fabric conditioner, the largest is where you put the powder or detergent in, the middle size one you do not put anything in, as it is where the cold water comes in for rinsing.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
I have this problem as well.. All washing machines manufactured nowadays are energy effficient, which means that they don't use as much water as the older models. This can result in a build-up of bacteria in the top part of the washing machine, which is clogging up the bit where the water comes through to flush the fabric conditioner into the drum. What I have to do every so often, is to take the top off the washing machine and clean out the layer of black slime that has built up, blocking the holes where the water goes into the washing machine. Another contributory factor is that the usual program used is a 40 degree wash, which is not hot enough to completely flush the machine through. Manufacturers recommend running a 90 degree wash once a month with just washing powder in iit, no clothes. Hope this is some help
