Want to find out if jazz bass ia a deluxe or standard model

What is the mesa or the mexico version mean? how to tell if it is a standard or deluxe model?

Mexico or "MIM" built Fenders are from Ensenada, Mexico plant.
Deluxe versions usually have active electronics (battery driven) and a few other "luxury" components.

I would need the complete serial #s, this serial # would be a 1968. Fender did not manufacture a Deluxe (or active) Bass guitar line at that time.

Serial number on a jazz bass ?

Check front of headstock, rear of headstock. Neckplate on the back of guitar. If not, remove neck and check the heel and neck "pocket."

Serial number starting with M indicates a Mexi Fender, if thats what you mean. It is a real Fender, it is just made in a plant in Mexico for much cheaper, and sold for much cheaper. I've played some Mexican Fenders that played better than American, and generally they are all decent, but most of the time people would rather have the American versions.
