Okey dokey... you'll need to remove the back cover on this set and make an adjustment to a part called the "DMD board". The DMD board is a large, flat, vertically oriented board with a perforated thin steel cover over it.

Basically, there is a tiny tiny 'tv screen' on the front side of this board and by moving this board around you can 'fine tune' the picture position. All that is typically required is to loosen the screws around the perimiter of the board (JUST SLIGHTLY! You don't want the board to fall out of position!) and slide the board around, preferably with someone watching the screen, until the picture looks perfectly centered.

Something to keep in mind is that the TV will not operate with the back off due to their being a small switch with a blue lever on it whose purpose is to prevent the TV from powering with the lamp cover off. Just tape this switch up so your set will power and then you can rock and roll. Good luck!

Large black bar to the left of screen

When replacing the light tunnel, the new one must be installed exactly as the old one came out. This can only be done by marking the screws and backing them our exactly 3 or 4 revolutions and then tightening the new one the exact same revolutions. When looking into the old tunnel you should have been able to see the mirror that came unglued to ensure that was the problem. The problem now can be corrected by loosening the screws on the dmd bd and manually adusting the dmd position in association of how it hits the dlp chip.

50inch Samsung DLP with black vertical line on right of screen

the light tunnel has come unglued..samsung has had a problem with this in the last few years...to be absolutely certain of which part i would need the complete model number and the version number which is on a small sticker on the right side when facing the front of the set..i am fairley sure the part number is BP96-01961A. this is not the easiest job to do and you might want to contact a technician who has done one before...what city do you live in?

HCL4715W Rear projection blurry

The focus controls on this set are in the front behind the bezel. I'm not sure, but, I think on this age of Samsung, the screws to the front bezel are on the back side of the set. After removing the screws from the back, the front bezel snaps off and the door behind the bezel need to be removed. Watch the wires connected to the bezel, they need to be attached in order to turn on the set. The focus controls are on a black control block (there are three of them, one for each color). Adjust each color for sharpest picture. I use words on the screen for alignment. Each CRT board has a screen control (Adjust each slowly until retrace lines appear on the screen and then back off until they disappear). You may turn off the color and make sure that the picture is black and white. If it is not, then, which ever color is dominant, back it off a bit with that screen control. Facing the set, Red is left, Green is middle and Blue is on the right. Use only one hand inside an operating television. Do not touch the board, just the controls. This concludes television alignment 101. Any questions respond to this post and I'll reply.
