FullHD KDL46XBR2 Bravia: No pic, no sound

I have over 2 years old 46'' Bravia Full HD (1080p) TV from XBR2 series and it has been working fine since today. When I turned it on today, TV turns on (meaning power supply is working) but there is no pic, nor any menu pop up on the screen (screen stays black).

I do not have extended warranty on this set so what should I do now ?
Any tips ?

This tv have the capabillity for the Full HD max resolution 1080i or 1080p.The problems u have is not the tv capabilities.The tv incomming broadcasting signals are vary like DTV,SD,480i,720i low end HD.Max HD resolutions are 1080p or 1080i.

Tv tries to power up and then shuts off, again and again.

If the fuse were to be open then you would have no lights coming on at all. These days it is very unusual to have an open fuse. You will have to have a technician look at the TV.

no you cannot change the HD to 1080p . if you could why would there be any 1080p sales???? most people cant see the differance between 720 and 1080p and most sat./and cable HD is only 720p anyway

Sony 46" XBR2 Cannot turn off closed caption

With TV on, turn off DVR and hit menu on DVR remote - you can disable CC from there. Worked for us - got the idea from another fixya post.

KDL-46XBR2 sony broke lcd screen

Looking for a screen also. I can buy a new 46" KDL-XBR2 for $100 plus $130 to go pick it up. Sony charges $1300 for a new screen. I havent been able to find a replacement screen seller though. Anyone have any luck?
