The REAL fix described here. I saw a couple posts that said put a heating blanket over control panel and viola, it did fix, temporarily. Well that told me it was a temperature sensitive component. There are 2 fixes. If you are not handy with electronics then just replace the control board. that is about $140. If you know how to solder, the faulty component is a 3300uf 16v capacitor on the the control board. replace that fro about a dollar and the problem is GONE. I used a pinpoint heat gun to narrow down the actual component and saved $139. Good luck. Still a reliable dryer!

Our dryer just keeps running and doesnt not shut off after cycle is done. You have to unplug or open door for it to shut off. This is not a refurbished dryer we had bought brand new

We moved our neptune dryer to our new cottage and it needed a new hookup. It worked for a while-but now it reads 88 and won't work. Is it the dryer or the electrical?

When the 88 displays, put a heating pad over the display - it will be ready in just a few minutes. Sounds crazy, but it works every time. May take up to 30 or 40 min.

Maytag Neptune Dryer purchased in 2001, Display shows 88, wont start . Can it be fixed?

There are 3 ways i know to make the machine work. Press and try all buttons to see if it clears up, Put a heating pad over the display for a few minutes. if these don't work. You will need a new display unit.

Display stuck on 88 and won't start

Try placing a heating pad over the display panel. After about 5-10 minutes the panel will return to normal and the dryer will work.

Won't start. Light are lit, but the 'start' button does nothing.

If the display shows an '88' then place a heating pad over the display. In a few minutes the '88' code will clear, and the dryer will work. Sounds crazy, but it works for me every time.

The lights on the control are on but the dryer will not start.

If the display shows '88' then place a heating pad on the display. Wait for the display to clear (10 - 15 min) and then the dryer will work. Sounds crazy, but it works for me every time.
