The java editor above wouldn't allow me to enter any text. The same problem -- power not going to the head on the GE 106766 vac. I replaced the bezel and power socket but it did not work.
I've had this same problem. It's a design defect in the power cable running through the hose. The entire hose will have to be replaced at a vacuum repair shop. The part is about $100. I've replaced it once, got an extra year out of it, and am ready to ditch it now that it's happened again. Good luck!
Try checking the hose connector cord (short cord from bezel outlet to hose). Also, check the prongs on on extension wands.
I believe you are looking for this part number: E-71986-1 and they have it at
www.ApplianceFactoryParts.com , put the part number in their search box and it should come up. Cost is about twenty dollars including the shipping.
