Change picture size without remote - HP LC3040N 30 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

You can't do it without remote control.

It will be very difficult to explain how to do it without a remote so, instesd, buy a universal remote control available at drug stores, etc. Then you can go into the TV menu and setup and define the picture size.

Without the OEM remote you can't access that video menu to change this aspect ratio. Have you looked on eBay for an OEM?

To select the picture size using the remote control
Press "Picture Size Button" on the remote control

While the Picture Size screen is open, you can do one of
the following to select the desired picture size

Repeatedly press "Picture Size Button"

Press the corresponding Number button (0-6) while the
Picture Size screen is open

Press UPor DOWN button, while the Picture Size screen is open

I have a 47 inch Toshiba lcd tv. I lost my remote control and am unable to change the picture size on the screen. Is there a way to change the hd settings from 480i to higher definition through my digital cable box?

if you have the original remote, your right and left arrow keys adjust the size, if size changes during commercials, get into your options and turn off the auto-size option, if you don't have the original remote, you must find a universal with proper mright and left arrow buttons.

Normallly, if the picture size button on the remote for the television ( If it has a picture size or format button) does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made.
For example:
A Motorola Cable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen or zoom when an analog signal is detected.
Some Dish Network boxes have Size buttons on their remotes and also in their main menu.
It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the types of the peripherals.
