Our dryer has developed a very off smell around the lint trap area. I have vacuumed the lint and cleaned the ports as best I can and sprayed clorox cleanup around the vents and run the dryer, but the odor persists.
Have you cleaned the dryer? You should clean out the heating coil area at least once a year. Lint can build up and burn and the odor is drawn into the dryer when it runs.
Hello JoAnn Barrett - It is very rare for a dryer to produce a sour odor. I would suggest cleaning out the lint trap or try removing the panel to confirm that doesn't anything trap there that can cause this odor. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend contacting a professional to move forward accurately with the concern.
