TV cant be switch on, RED LED diagnostic Blinks .. 3 times... then 4 times. Please advise probable cause and send sTV hcematic diagram.

When power is switch on, the two green LED lights up but the screen remain blank .. after a few seconds, two green LED switch off and the red LED diagnostic blinks 3 times... then 4 times ... then continue blinking 4 times.

    Thanks Local wonder.. but I would like to correct ... model number is SONY KV29SF1. and this is the problem...." " " " " --> When power is switch on, the two green LED lights up but the screen remain blank .. after a few seconds, two green LED switch off and the red LED diagnostic lights up for 2 secs... then blinks 4 times .and continue blinking 4 times " . However, There are times that the TV will normally operate after switching on.. Suspect problem with Horizontal ckt - unable to generate horizontal sweep current to operate the CRT which is being sense by the microprocessor protective circuitry.? This is a guess... as I dont have ckt diagram .Please advise..

    I studied Radio TV servicing but practice Control system engineering.. So I still understand quite well TV circuitry operation and can repair down to component leve -- given the correct information. l. I just need familiarity with the operation / function of the IC used in this KV29SF1 , service manual and ckt diagram will be very helpful. There is no Sony service center near our place so I have to fix the TV ..Will appreciate if anybody can e-mail me a copy of Schematic Diagram..

Hi, this is main board failure and you will need to replace this vital board. you power board is fine but, it is unable to send a proper current through the main mother board due to the damage at hand.

    Ckt is probable but, this component may be discontinued. i will do some further research on this a and return within the hour. this could be a faulty CRt tube as well. i will resarch this further...

Sony sets like this have a built-in self-diagnostic function.
The blinks of the Standby LED are the self-diagnostic codes.
There may be more than one error. The blinks indicate only the first error.

Unlug the set. Wait 30 seconds.
Prepare to count the number of times the Standby LED blinks.
Plug the set back in. Count the blinks.

  • Probable cause:
    • H.OUT (Q506) is shorted. (A Board) (20"/21" models only)
    • RGB Amp (IC1751) is shorted. (CV Board)

    • +13V is not supplied. (A Board)

    • Power line is shorted or power supply is stopped

  • Diagnostic Item Description: IK (AKB)
  • Probable cause:
    • Video OUT (IC545) is faulty. (A Board)
    • IC001 is faulty. (A Board)
    • Screen (G2) is improperly adjusted.
  • Detected Symptoms:
    • No raster is generated.
    • CRT Cathode current detection reference pulse output is small.

The above may be of little help. Your best bet is to download the service manual for the KV20FS120.

I have 3 flashing red lights when I try to power up my TV.
Over Voltage Protection . this is the cause for 3 blinks you see by its stanby/power LED.

Sony Triniton TV KV 32FS120 will not turn on
In standby mode (red led on/after the led stops from blinking), press "Display", "5", Volume (-)", "Power on" on the remote control in sequence, self diagnostic screen will be display, let me know the what is on the screen to diagnose where the fault came from.

The power light keeps blinking and it doesnt matter if i unplug the tv and plug it back in when i go to turn it back on it just blinks.
the blinking power light is actually a diagnostic of a faulty part inside the set.

Here is the diagnostic info and which part you need to replace.

1 blink STV 5v sense DG Board

Power LED blinks red
it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea

Kv24fs120 dead set with two led blinks
Two-blinks of the "Diagnostic STANDBY/TIMER LED" indicates one of two things:

1) Horizontal Output (Q502) in shorted on the A-board.

or

2) IC702 is shorted (CB board)

Two-blinks of the diagnostic red LED is a " B+ Overcurrent" problem.
The red LED will blink 2-times, stay off for 3 seconds, then blink 2-times. The cycle repeats.

The circuit board is quite delicate. One should not attempt repairs (unless one has high quality vacuum desoldering equipment such as a PACE desoldering unit).
