Check inside could be that the contacts are carodded clean with electronic spray

It seems that there is a button on the receiver/speaker. Try press once and see if the sound changes.

If it plays anytune that it must be picking up another doorbell frequency, and according to the instructions you need to 'reset the digital code' of the frequency for your doorbell. Check the reciever (ringer) as well, it will have to be set to match what you do to the transmitter (the doorbell button)
