I had an HP Pavillion Desktop m8034n with wireless keyboard and mouse. It operated on Vista. I replaced it with an HP Pavillion 500-054 Desktop with Windows 8 and would like to use the wireless keyboard and mouse from the HP m5034n. Is this possible? If so, how do I accomplish this?

The answer is only at HP, not here, we are not HP.
the answer is purely BASED the Unstated wireless keyboard.
does both kbd'/mouse have good batteries, that be first.
then the drivers.
did you post to HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook in error,
what is a M5034n.? (printer?) hp shows nothing google same.
m8034n? bingo, i see it in the old old records,
"HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8034n Desktop PC Product Specifications" and yes it had a wireless kbd/rodent bundled in then.
I see these word in the echo..
HP Enhanced Multimedia Keyboard Driver Update
for VISTA and ends. vista drivers might work try them yet?

ok forget all that, tell the helper and HP what wireless system you have in your hand it has HP service tag.
the tag has model number.

let me tell you , that HP old keyboards do not work on w7 or 8 or 10 . if too old.
where you internet connected first, when you plugged in the keyboard USB adaptor, that is the only hope here.
letting internet PnP do its job,(if it can)
plug and play.

here is the offical HP page on those devices.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/accessories-parts/keyboard-mouse/keyboard-mouse-combination

ask on HP forum yet.
or look here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00006821

i see no drivers for it.

Try changing the batteries in the mouse and then press the little sync button of both the mouse and the wireless receiver.

SOURCE: hp pavillion dv6000 laptop drivers for microsoft windows XP prof.

You can not dual boot with oem software from HP. I run dual boot linux and XP. I tried everything to get vista to work in the dual boot. Here are your options. Get a full copy of windows vista and XP with keys. Windows vista can not be the HP Cd for reinsatlation of windows. It has to be a stand alone copy of Vista. Back up data. Format drive, install xp, install vista.
Option 2 see it there is to uyse a virtualization software I use Kubuntu (Linux) with virtualbox and I used the HP disk to instll in the virtual machine. It is not a perfect system but it allows me to work on vista, and xp while never having to dualboot. think of it as windows in windows. or I like windows in Linux.  http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Is the download page for virtual box.. let me know if you need more help.

SOURCE: HP 3 button wireless optical mouse

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it. This should connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly. If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the button on the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud

If you're able to get online, try looking here, and download the driver for your operating system http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers

This should help you with your issue, and also give you the ability to tweak the way you want your trackpad to respond.

Computer boots up but wireless keyboard and mouse not recognized. Hard wired wont work either. I have the Model 5187utf and the HP Pavillion m7050e computer.

Try the wireless keyboard/mouse on another computer, to verify that they are working correctly.

Try the "hard-wired" keyboard/mouse on another computer, to verify that they are working correctly.

If so, then it's your computer's motherboard that needs to be replaced (exact replacement or an upgrade).
