DeWalt dwd520 grease

Here are the wire placements for the switch of a DeWalt DWD520 hammer drill:

1. The red wire from the motor goes to the top left terminal on the switch.
2. The black wire from the motor goes to the top right terminal on the switch.
3. The white wire from the power cord goes to the bottom left terminal on the switch.
4. The black wire from the power cord goes to the bottom right terminal on the switch.

Open the jaws and insert a Torx 20 driver. The thread is counter clockwise.

Hi, Dewalt is always expensive (actualy their owned by Black & Decker)
but what you need to get is a grease that has a high tempreture rating as it is for inside the geers, this is to avoid the grease drying out and going hard , go to a local Irnmonger and he should be able to advise you,or talk to a mechanic as they know about oils and grease...T.C.

They use grease not gear oil. Call the DeWalt factory center at 1-800-433-9258 to find out what grease.

Harley, I use lithium grease in my power tools gear boxes, never have an issue.

I would use oil not grease,grease collects dirt and is a mess in the heat. use a gear oil and youll be fine

The gasket your looking for is part# 487224-00 SEAL which lists for $3.65. The gearcase should use LUBCON GLK 249 grease spread evenly across the gears. Be careful with the amount you apply, too little grease will not properly lubricate and too much will create additional friction cause the to motor to work harder, thus reducing its effectiveness and longevity. ONLY THIS GREASE SHOULD BE USED ON THE INTERNAL COMPONETS OF THIS TOOL. Note that the bit grease is different than the gearcase grease and SHOULD NOT be used on any internal components.

Before you attempt any of this I would recommend going to Dewaltservicenet.com and see what the inside of this tool looks like. It appears that you need to remove part of the front gearcase to get into the lube. The back e.g. brushes is not that big of a deal. If there is a Service Center near you they have a Max repair rate that they will fix anything on this saw at a preset firm price and if it is less that is what they would charge.
