Motor malfunctions usually call for service by a professional. There are three main causes of motor failure: lack of lubrication, a defective motor switch, or worn or frozen bearings. A humming sound can be related to a burned-out motor or a defective switch. Check these trouble spots before you call a professional service person or take the motor to a repair shop. Here's how to check a dryer motor:
Step 1: Remove the back access panel. Then reach behind the drum, motor pulley, and idler arm pulley. If these areas are clogged with dirt and lint, undue strain on the motor may be causing the humming noise. Worn or broken belts can also cause a humming noise. Check the belts for wear and damage. If the belts look all right, you may be able to stop the noise by spraying them with fan belt dressing, available at automotive and hardware stores and home centers.
Step 2: Turn the dryer on. The noise you hear may be the whirl of the spinning drum, not the motor. Some noise is normal.
Step 3: Force a little 20-weight nondetergent motor oil (not all-purpose oil) around the ends of the motor shaft. This lubrication may stop the humming noise. If this doesn't solve the problem, remove the motor and take it to a professional service person.The centrifugal switch on the dryer motor may be located on top of the motor. Humming, no motor power, and no heat can be caused by a faulty centrifugal switch. If the switch is externally mounted, check the terminals of the switch to make sure they are tight and not burned. If you spot trouble, remove the switch and take it to a professional service person for testing. A faulty switch will probably have to be replaced. Some centrifugal switches are located inside the motor housing; you won't be able to remove the switch in this case. Remove the entire motor and take it to a professional for repairs.
If the motor hums, but won't run the pulley on the end of the motor shaft, try turning the pulley by hand.Caution: Before turning the pulley, make sure the power to the dryer is turned off.

Gaining access to the lint housing sounds more difficult than it is. As a matter of fact, I could get to it and have it back together in the time it takes me to type out the instructions!
Tools needed;
1.) Phillips screwdriver
2.) 5/16" nut driver or socket
UNPLUG THE DRYER FIRST!!! Or risk a funky new hair-do...
Open the door and remove the four screws at the hinges then remove the door. Opposite the hinges, you'll see 4 more screws, remove these too. Now grasp the front panel on both sides near the top and pull it toward you. Lean it out to about a 45 degree angle and lift it off the clips that are holding it (at the bottom).
Now you'll see the lint trap housing. Look around the housing, you'll probably see a yellow wire near the 5 o'clock position, remove it. Now, on either side, you'll see four 5/16" screws... Don't remove the top ones, just remove the three below the top ones. You can now pull the entire panel off of the frame for cleaning.
Rebuild in the reverse order (and don't forget to re-connect that yellow wire!)

Gas dryers utilize a gas valve, ignitor assembly, and a series of coils mounted on the gas valve to provide heat and safety. The gas valve coils are the usual suspect when it comes to a "No Heat" complaint. I have provided a checklist from www.repairclinic.com, for your convenience. They also provide disassembnly diagrams and repair parts.
Firstly, ascertain that you have made an adequate "Heat" selection, then read on:
Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.
If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:
Igniter
Gas valve coils
Thermal fuse
Igniter
Modern gas dryers use an electric igniter to ignite the gas from the gas valve. When it's working properly, the igniter glows bright orange. When it burns out, the dryer tumbles but there's no heat because the gas can't ignite. When the igniter burns out, you need to replace it. If the igniter is held by a tension bracket, you very well may need to replace the bracket too.
The igniter is inside the dryer housing, near the bottom front, usually in a cone-shaped metal tube (the force cone). It's about 2 inches long. It's mounted to the far end of the burner tube, and it has two wires attached to it--or to the tension bracket, if there is one.
Gas valve coils
Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time.
Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.
If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)
