SOURCE: My new Blu-Ray player will not send out an HDMI

This is not a common problem.

It sounds like you are receiving signal from the DVD player, but are having a resolution issue. After the splash screen is when the resolutions setting can affect your output. What this sounds like is the DVD player is set to 1080P and the TV is only capable of 720P or 1080i. If there is a resolution mis-match, connect a composite cable to the TV and set the resolution of the DVD player to AUTO, then check to see if you have an image from the HDMI connection.

If your TV is capable of 1080P and if this solution does not fix the problem, and all other outputs from the player perform the same, the unit is faulty and should be returned if still under warranty.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: i need to upgrade my blu ray player

If you are using the BRDVD there is only one update and it is a few months old. They are adding new security features to new Bluyray discs this month and all players out there need to be updated. The unfortunate side of the BRDVD is that Insignia is refusing to update the player although Funai(the comany that has made the player for them) has released a update that would work with it with little work by insignia.

To help get this player updated it would be good to go to the forums here and post that you still use this player. We got a update the first time so it should be possible to get another.

Good luck and enjoy this little player.

SOURCE: DVD player does not recongnize blu-ray DVD but plays ordinary DVDs ok.

Hello
Check whether the discs are dirty or scratched. Check whther they are region compactable. If all are OK, the Blu-Ray laser pickup unit of your system is fault and slould be replaced. It is really a skilled work, and you should have through knoledge in electronics, and all tools to repair the set. Otherwise, get this set repaired by any experienced service person or by the Authorised Service Center for Insignia at your town. The whole mechanism should be disassemble to repalce the component. The work can only be done by any experienced person who know to disassemble and reassembe the whole deck mechanism. OK.

I have the onn unversial remote model # 12AVO58 i need codes for funai dvd blu ray player

If your remote is universal, it probably has a code search feature you can use to find a suitable code for your Funai player. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try another universal remote.

I need a code to program a funai dvd player for my universal rca remote

One 3-digit code that might work is 026.
Your universal RCA remote has a code search function which you can use to find a code that will control your Funai DVD player. If a search through all codes stored in the remote produces no result, you may have to try another universal remote to find a code that will work.

Don't mess with codes! Get a universal remote control at your local electronics store or drug store...they are cheap and have instructions that come with them to automatically find the code and store it...just follow the instructions!

The player will not play new movies

There is no charge for the BRDVD firmware although Insignia has been bad about the updates. This play is made by Funai and has several sister models.

Insignia has only released one firmware update while Funai has continued to support the products and has plans to support it for a unspecified time to come with a firmware update that just came out on March 1st.

Here is a link to a support page for all the models by funai including the Insignia BRDVD:http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-players-recorders/48943-funai-bd-player-owners-thread-magnavox-sylvania-insignia-etc.html

Here is a link to ingnia where you can find this models main page as well as firmare updates and instructions telling you how to install them.

On a side note please go into the forums and look at the messages for updates on the disc problems and such. We are trying to convince Insignia to stick with their customers and update the player as Funai is so we can get some use out of what we paid for.

Hope I helped and enjoy your BRDVD.

Magnavox NB530MGX

The thing about your particular model is that it's not really a Magnavox, but a Funai. Magnavox licensed their name to Funai for use in OEM. Currently, there are no firmware upgrades for your model.

Two suggestions:
1) Wait until Funai produces the firmware upgrade, or
2) Return your player to the store (provided you still have everything ti came with) and get the "true" Magnavox NB500MG9.
