SOURCE: SWR calibration waaay off the chart
double check your connections and your cable for shorted PL 259 connectors. Oil filled antenna! Humm Sham on you if you are using a liner! Oh and quit sniping the antenna remember the higher in frequincy the shorter the antenna and longer for lower in frequincy. So it could be just where the antenna is located some antennas work good there but a diferent one wont try another spot also make sure your in a clear area when checking SWR not your drive way next to the garage or house or other car and finaly use an external SWR meter the ones on the radio some times SUCK.

Hello papapyr07,
It looks like you are trying to run the CB and the commercial radio off of the same antenna at the same time? This I gather is failing. This may be due to the pre-wired antenna having a filter on it to prevent exactly what you are trying to do. If this is the case you may have no choice but to run a separate antenna for your CB (this is the most logical choice), now you can try to find the filter if it is an external filter and remove it and use an antenna matching network to connect the CB to the existing antenna system (next logical, but may void the antenna system warranty). In any event you will either have to run another antenna for the CB or find and remove the present antenna filter.
I hope this helps
Thank you,

Check the antenna feeder with a meter (resistance range), try disconnecting the antenna from the end also this will check faults on the cable, if there is a resistance this usually means faulty feeder. If there is an infinatly high resistance this is fine. (open circuit)
or
Get a power meter and check the output power, if its lower than whatever high power should be 4-5watts on a non-sideband radio, then your output transistor/driver has blown.
SOURCE: red antenna warning indicator light stays on
The red light is a warning of antenna mismatch; when you hold the antenna, you are changing the match between the CB's output amplifier and the antenna. Try it with a different antenna or pick up a 'test light' (or test load) for CBs from an electronics dealer, I've also seen them with CB accessories at truck stops. If the test light fires off and the red light on the CB is dark, the antenna you have is junk.
