Water leaks under portable air con unit

I have a 6 year old hotpoint mac-90 portable air con. It has been fine until now, where water leaks from under the unit and not collected by the designated water tank where I usually empty after it gets full. Can anyone help?

Look for a crack on the water tank or a dried up gasket on the tank. Loose hose clamps can allow a leak as well.

SOURCE: air conditioner is leaking but lights not blinking

Make sure the drainage port is closed as per the instructions. If you continue to have leakage you may have a leak in the tank.

SOURCE: Hotpoint MAC-130 air conditioner dripping water

You need to blow out the drain line where it hooks up to the pan and clean out the drip pan. It doesn't matter how clean you keep the filter, that's just to keep the evaporator coils clean, which is important in itself. But algae will grow in the drip pan if it is not tilted to drain correctly and will clog up the drain line. If you put a level on the top of the unit, the bubble should JUST BARELY break the line on the OPPOSITE side from the drain outlet on the pan. Hope this helps.

The base needs to be dumped regularly. The air conditioner sweats water during operation and the pan collects it. Your manual should give you the procedure on how this is done. In some cases there is a hose attached to the drain pan so that you can direct the drainage to a more conventional drain location.

AFTRON Portable Air-Conditioner AFPAC1200H using lots of water but not dripping or leaking - where is it going?

Your question is a little confusing. You could mean takes on water in a tank inside the machine, a bucket you empty when it fills. Sounds like it is dehumidfing because that is what they do, take water out of the air, and just blow room temperature air out, not cold. Many portables have that feature.
If that sounds like it, find the Cool button, or mode button to switch to the cool function.

How to stop portable air conditioner leaking water

I heard that some portable air conditioners can leak water from the unit after being operated for about an hour or so if they are not on a level floor. <br /> I solved this with my DeLonghi air con after discovering the floor my unit was on had about 1 - 2 mm difference from one side to the other. By buying a small builder's liquid level (like you use to keep a line of bricks aligned) I used a small piece of wood (ruler thickness) under one side of the air con and no more leaks! Hope this helps someone. Kez, Perth WA

Soleus A/C unit is leaking water out of drain plug

it is working well, possibly has a bad sensor to tell you it's full but put a permanent drain on, run it in the sink or dump it more often. just means it's pulling out excessive amounts of moisture
