I had a similar problem. Mine would take about 30 seconds just to detect the connection speed, then would take about 3 minutes to buffer the movie. After about 3 minutes of playing, it would stop and buffer about 3 more minutes of the movie, play for 3 minutes, then stop and buffer about 3 more minutes, etc.
I noticed on another thread that people were disabling BD-Live to resolve other issues, so I tried that and it seems to have solved my problem. You might want to give it a try. Under Setup -> Network -> BD-LIVE connection - set it to Prohibited and give it a try.
I guess you only need BD-Live enabled if you have BluRay discs and want to access the online extras.

My netflix stopped working cause I didn't update my Credit card info when I got a new card.
I can browse Vudu just fine but after getting billing info correct for netflix, Doing a system factory reset of the visio I still get a Not connected to the internet message when trying to start Netflix.

go to lg site and look for updates for your LG DVD player, you will need to download this on USB drive and then attach it to DVD players.
This fixed my player, I was having same problem.
