SOURCE: DOWNDRAFT FAN MAKES LOAD NOISE
open your cabniet up under the unit you will have to disconnect the venting in this will give you access to the blower section also make sure the filter is not hitting it inside they usally install a screen to prevent this but maybe yours is missing
SOURCE: fan has difficulty turning, buzzes
Hi
Tha model is a Maytag.
There are a few things to check here, and it's best always to use the proces of elimination.
These are the things you need to check:
1.MOTOR, DOWNDRAFT
2.BLOWER ASSEMBLY
3.SCROLL, BLOWER ASSY.
4.CORD, POWER (MOTOR)
as you mention before sometime run and sometimes do not run.
youll have to start by checking those items and make sure they are not damage or obstructed. I have some wiring diagrams for that model, if you would like for me to email them to you, please let me know.
I hope that will help you

SOURCE: I have a Jenn-Air downdraft
It appears you simply have a bad switch. Try contacting Jenn-Air or looking them up on the web to find out if they have replacement parts available
