Drain pump will only drain when layed on the floor

My drain pump is attached to the wall where it drains out... I pulled it out of the wall to see if there were any problems with the drain itself. I set it down to go do something and once layed down it drained the water all over my floor! This is how ive been draining my washer. There has to be a better solution. why wont it drain when the drain is pointed upward?

Jodi here. You gave me advice about fixing my washer. I appreciate your help but i honestly give up I removed the rear access panel like u said, i couldnt test the motor but everything else looked fine. I checked the tube to see if anything was clogged and then tried to run the machine again. THE WATER STARTED SPITTING OUT OF THE DOOR! I JUST KEEP SCREWING UP AND ITS A MESS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Sounds like the pump is going bad. It will drain while on the floor because the hose id lower then the water level inside the machine. You can get to the pump by removing the rear access panel. It is an electric motor. You can test to see if it is getting 120V.
They have been known for the impellor coming off the shaft as wel.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

I am sorry for your frustration. I hope you can get it taken care of. It most likely is the pump area but I understand. If you get a chance to work on it and need more assistence, I'll be here.

    Good luck.

The water won't drain on the spinner side of my Zokop washer?

Question edited 'want' (something you need), 'won't', (contracture of will not). Corrected maker name - Zohop > Zokop.

Probably has two pumps, one for each side. Check for blockages and proper operation.

Sun Roof drain line leaking all over front floor board of car.

My sunroof drain line was leaking onto the floor in front. Pulled off interior A pillar (post between the side window and windshield) to expose the drain line. Using a flash light from outside the car, shining it down at where the windshield meets the dash, you can see where the drain line goes down into the fire wall of the car, or should I say does not go down into the firewall-if yours is not attached, like mine was. Mine was just laying inside the dash area, not attached at all. I made a tool to push it back into place. (a long tent stake worked well for this, after I put a slight bend in it in the middle). It took some doing, about 20-30 minutes of working at it and smaller hands to fit in a very tight place, but since I am a girl (yes, guys, we girls know how to work on cars too :), it wasn't as hard ). But now, problem solved. I had researched how to do all of this on the internet. Scariest part was pulling off the interior trim from the pillar, but once you do, you can clearly see the black tube drain line and figure out where it leads. If I can do it, you can do it. Good luck

Have a had a whirlpool cabrio washer for almost 3 years. It started as a small leak when it was draining to huge leak now where all the water is draining out all from the right front side.

Hello, the Cabrio has the drain pump on the right rear. Pull the washer out from the wall about 2.5 feet or so. Place a towel over the top edge of the control panel and lean the washer back against the wall so it rests there. Lay on the floor and, using a flashlight or headlamp, carefully inspect the drain pump for cracks, the rubber pipes for leaks, and check to see if the motor in the middle has water trails that look like water was slung out when spinning. These models are notorious for leakage from the tub seal at the center. Water drains down into the bearings and motor. I've also seen where the body of the drain pump cracks and leaks. Also, check the metal spring clips. They are notorious for being too loose for holding the rubber elbows and pipes on the plastic nipples under the tub--I never use them to repair a washer--I ALWAYS use automobile hose clamps purchased at auto parts stores--way better and DEFINITELY more reliable. You'll need the 1.5" to 2.5" sizes.

Is there a video showing how to get to the water pump on a Kenmore washing 8537143A

Hello. I checked my resources and your washer is an older style top loader. You can pull the washer out from the wall about 2.5 to 3 feet. Lay a bath towel across the top of the control panel. Tip the washer back till it rests against the wall and won't fall forward. The towel protects the wall from marring. Lay on the floor while wearing a headlamp, look underneath and you will see the transmission in the middle, followed by the electric drive motor, and then on the very front is the plastic water pump which drains the washer. There are 2 steel clips which hold the pump firmly to the motor. Using a small screwdriver, you can pry the clips off the pump fairly easily and then it will slide off the keyed shaft(two sides are flat). The pumps are readily available from almost any appliance parts facility.

Manually drain GE WPGT9350C0PL

You can try removing the hose from the drain in the wall, place it in a pail on the floor, set the control panel to spin, even though the drain pump might not be working, there is a chance the gate valve is working and will allow it to drain.

If not, you need a small pump that attaches to a drill and two garden hoses, or a shop Vac.

Cabro WTW6200SW2 Top Washer. Water drains on the floor instead of through the drain pipe.

This one sounds like the drain pump is damaged or the drain hose is damaged or detached causing water to drain on the floor instead of through the drain hose. Disconnect power then tape the washer lid closed and lay the machine on its front on a cushioned surface to access the drain pump and the drain hose connections at the bottom of the tub. Reattach the drain hose if detached or replace it if damaged and cannot be reattached to the drain pump. Replace the drain pump if damaged and leaking water on the floor.

Turn off the power and pull out the machine to get to the rear. Pull out the hose you see going into the wall pipe, lay at floor level or plastic bag to drain out remaining water in machine. Remove the panel at the bottom (2 screws) where the discharge hose comes out. You should see a black concertina type tube coming from below the drum attached by a jubilee clip. The filter is inside. Loosen the clip and pull away the tube, take out the filter and clean it. When you replace it don't forget to put the ball float back in (exactly as you found it) and check it’s well fixed by running a spin cycle before sealing up. Caution, the exit drain hose shd be fitted at the exact location where you found it, abt three feet up from ground level.

How do I drain the barrel

If this is a top loading washer, an easy method of draining the wash tub is to pull the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and lower it into a bucket. Gravity will allow the water to drain. If the washer is in a laundry room or utility room with a drain in the floor, you can simply lay the drain hose on the floor and allow it to run into the drain.

A less messy method is to use a wet/dry shop vac and pull a vacuum on the drain line to pull the water from the wash tub. Most of the these top loaders have a capacity of about 30 gallons, so you will need to empty the shop vac a few times to empty the tub. Make sure you place the drain hose back into the standpipe when you need to empty the vacuum or gravity will force the water on to your floor.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series Model 110 water leak

It sounds like you have a leaking pump. The pump is easy to replace:
#1 Use a shop vac and pull all the water out of the drain line. This will keep you from having to clean up about 1 gallon of water off of the floor.
#2 Lift the front of the machine enough for you to get under and see.the pump just inside the front of the washer.
#3 Lift the 2 retaining clips off of the pump. This will allow you to pull the pump off of the motor.
#4 Remove the 2 clamps off of the hoses.
#5 Install the new pump into the hoses, and reinstall the clamps.
#6 With the retaining clips installed into the motor housing, install the pump.
#7 Attach the retaining clips, and set the washer back on the ground.

You have now replaced the washer pump.
