Try another cable you know is working. If this does not fix your problem, the monitor likely needs a professional repair and may be not economical to repair.

E19T5W monitor doesn't stay on once power button is depressed

Chances are the power supply in the monitor is going out.

Today, monitors are cheap and unless you have a 24' or better, it really doesn't pay. You may spent $100.00 and find one new for $135.00
Hope this helps

Keeps switching on and off frequently. have to press the input button on the side to get the display back

eMachines are well known for having VERY POOR quality products. If it's turning on and off all the time, it really has to be defective, sorry. check www.mwave.com for great discounts on monitors, I buy from them all the time. Erick

When I turn the computer on I have to press the button on and off several times before the monitor will come on

first try using a different connector.......or a different monitor and see if u have the same problem with it...............if it gives you the same problem u can try downloading the monitor driver to a cd (when u can get it to come on).....then re install the driver............ if this doesnt work it may be a faulty monitor card in the back of your computer that needs to be replaced.

Emachine E19T5W Monitor

I have more or less the same problem. Mine only stays on for a second though, but it started out like yours. I took it apart and found that the CCFL bulbs at the top of the screen were so poorly put together that they arced out and in the end melted the end of the back panel bulbs off. The monitor only lasted a year and a half and now it's toast unless I can find new back panal bulbs.
If the screen feels excessivly hot around the corners or if you here a snapping noises (arcing) yours is going the same route as mine. If you want to get rid of yours I'll take it.
