Chamberlain 740C stopped working in cold - Chamberlain Car Audio & Video

The disk drives in the 640C/740C are Sony. Most people renew the laser, but that is tricky dealing with static electricity. Try renewing the flatcable from the laser unit to the servo circuit. Cheap. If this does not work, you can always renew the laser as well. Beware. There are (Chinese) non Sony lasers on the market. Success!

if you can open door Manually- find the FORCE adjustments-Not Travel. These might be "blue" in color. Increase the UP slightly. this adjustment in the cold weather is due to door hardware dry, lube rollers/hinges with wd-40 while door is down, lube every 30 days, keeps it moving quietly...

If there is any grease in the tracks clean it all out. On the rear of your motor unit you will find the 'up force' control. Turn this about 1/4 turn and try. You also should take a good look at your door springs and make sure one isn't broken. Release the door from the opener and open it manually. Shouldn't be heavy and should stay when released about 1/2 way up.

There is nothing to do beyond what you have done. You need to get a new keypad. Make sure you get the same model as there are some out there that will not work with your opener.

If you have used grease on any part of the door hardware or tracks you will have to clean it all off. The recommended lubricant for the hardware is silicon spray and nothing at all on the tracks. You can also increase the up force which you will find on the rear of the motor unit near all those white wires.

WHEN YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY NO NEED TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTE.
THE FLASHING LIGHT TELLS YOU IT IS SENDING A SIGNAL THAT IS BEING RECIEVED IT IS JUST NOT THE CORRECT CODE TO OPEN THE DOOR.
REPROGRAMING THE REMOTE SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM

I also had the same problem with a liftmaster garage door opener. The garage door stopped about two feet off the floor and would not open any further. I inspected the screw drive position where the door stopped and decided to use a lubricant like WD 40 to lube that area of the screw drive. After doing this the door starting working and as an added benefit the operation of the door became much quieter.

Problem solved!!! All the screw drive needed was some lubricant. I checked the operating manual for this opener and didnot find this solution there.
