Error codes for Samsung Fridge

Error codes for Samsung. Would like a decent explanation of the error codes and how to read them for Samsung refrigerator. My particular model is RS2545SH. I get a 3 when I first plug on the fridge side of the panel. Really would like a complete list of error codes and meaning.

Here you go 86pagt: I know the whole story. My neighbor and I both own the exact same fridge bought from the same store. A big box retailer. We both have the exact same problem of fridge getting warmner and freezer working fine.

To make your fridge get cold you must get the coils on the fridge side unfrozen. Right now, there is a huge block of ice surrounding the coils on the fridge side. This is because Samsung failed to install a drain hole in the coil area. A serious design flaw.

Empty everything out and wait. At least a day.

If you want to hurry up the process, remove the back wall on the fridge side and use a blow dryer to thaw the block of ice.

It is not that hard, you can do it.

The reason this can occur is that these models have two sets of cooling coils. One for freezer, one for fridge. Older and different models use one set of coils only using freezer air to cool the fridge.

This dual system is why our fridges are warm and the freezers stay cold.

If you call for service they will replace the electrical panel and blame the logic board. My neighbor has had three boards installed.

It does not solve the problem. Selling the fridge and buying a new one will solve the problem.

Samsung was forced by law to repair the problem in Europe.

In the USA they have not been forced to address the problem.

I installed a drain hole and have not had much trouble but I do plan on getting a different brand when money permits.

You need to check the refrigerator defrost sensor connection thats behid the light bulb in the middle of the refrigerator section

  • larryuk Jan 23, 2011

What they did in europe was install a defrost heater underneath the condenser which is behind the panel, the problem was they also had a problem with fridges actually catching fire due to the mod carried out. This has been resolved on fridges by Samsung.

does anyone know what error code 3 is? Have the same problem, wont cool on fridge side freezer side is fine...

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2010

Thanks for the reply, 2 weeks ago i had to empty everything out and do what you said, removed the panel and defrost it, it was one soild block of ice. After i did that I pluged it back in and still code 3, it then cooled down to 38 degrees and was fine untill last night, i woke up this morning the temp still reading 38 but was not even close to being that temp. I unpluged it and waited 7 min then pluged it back in and got code 3 and then went to the current temp and it was reading 60. I opened up the panel and it was frozen but not half as bad as it was 2 weeks ago. I have put it back together and its good to go now sitting at 36. I dont want to continue doing this every 2 weeks. I have had it for 3 years and never a problem untill 2 weeks ago. Defrosting it is a band-aid, wondering if maybe there is a way to clear a code or if there really something wrong, i think the fan is working since it does get cold but for some reason it is freezing up....Thanks for the help any other ideas?

ULine U-2115WCS Wine Fridge flashing "ER" after temp.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to a better category..

The Thermistor has failed or is failing. It is the temperature sensor that is basically your electronic thermostat.
Troubleshooting Guide: U-Line Refrigerator Error Codes U-Line refrigerator troubleshooting begins with cracking the codes. Let's take a look at U-Line brand error codes.

Error Code ER

Diagnosis: Thermistor 1 is open

Explanation:
The U-Line refrigerator error code ER is alerting you to a failed thermistor. Thermistors are used for various temperature readings. These provide reliable temperature readings using a resistance which varies based on surrounding temperatures. If you have a U-Line wine cooler, for example, it will include ambient temperature surrounding the refrigerator unit.
If the thermistor 1 fails, the refrigerator will continue to operate on a preset 10 minutes on and 30 minutes off time interval.

Solution:
Use an accurate ohm meter to test the thermistor. If the thermistor is defective, have it replaced.

Beep Code Explained

Thanks to Transcend Technical Support for this great Brief of understanding beep codes that is found here
This is a long post and it may be truncated at the bottom. If so, use the link above to go to the Transcend web site where these are found

1.General POST (initial system boot) BEEP Codes
If you do not know the BIOS manufacturer, the following will be the general Beep codes:
• 1 Long and 1 Short Beep ?Bad Motherboard
• 1 Short Beep and nothing else happens ?Disk Drive/Video Related Problems
• 1 Long and 2 Short Beeps ?Bad Video Card
• 1 Continuous Beep or Non-stop short Beeps ?Bad Power Supply
• 3 Short Beeps - Bad Memory
2.American Megatrends Inc. (AMI) BEEP Codes
• 1 Beep - Memory refresh timer error.
Reseat the memory, or replace with known good modules.
• 2 Beeps - Parity Error
Reseat the memory, or replace with known good modules.
• 3 Beeps - Main memory read / write test error.
Reseat the memory, or replace with known good modules.
• 4 Beeps - Motherboard timer not operational
• 5 Beeps - Processor Errors
• 6 Beeps - Keyboard controller BAT test error.
• 7 Beeps - General exception error.
• 8 Beeps - Display memory error.
If the system video adapter is an add-in card, replace or reseat the video adapter. If the video adapter is an integrated part of the system board, the board may be faulty.
• 9 Beeps - ROM checksum error
• 10 Beeps - CMOS shutdown register read/write error
• 11 Beeps - Cache Memory Bad

Beeps 4-7, 9-11
Fatal error indicating a serious problem with the system. Consult your system manufacturer.
Before declaring the motherboard beyond all hope, eliminate the possibility of interference by a malfunctioning add-in card. Remove all expansion cards except the video adapter.
?If the beep codes are generated even when all other expansion cards are absent, the motherboard has a serious problem. Consult your system manufacturer.
?If the beep codes are not generated when all other expansion cards are absent, one of the add-in cards is causing the malfunction. Insert the cards back into the system one at a time until the problem happens again. This will reveal the malfunctioning add-in card.
3.Award Bios BEEP Codes
1 Long Beep: Memory problem
Explanation: There is a failure of some sort related to the system memory.
Diagnosis: The first bank of memory probably has a failure of some sort; this is usually just a physical problem such as an incorrectly inserted module, but may also mean a bad memory chip in a module. It is possible that there is a failure related to the motherboard or a system device as well.

• 1 Long, then 2 Short Beeps: Video error
Explanation: The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.
• 1 Long, then 3 Short Beeps: Video error
Explanation: The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.
• Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem
Explanation: The system is producing constant beeping in no specific pattern, or a fast "ringing" sound.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the system memory, or possibly the video card. The memory is more likely--the system complains long and loud if it can't find any usable memory, as there is no way to even start the boot process when this is the case. The motherboard itself could also be the problem.
• Other Beep Codes
Explanation: You have encountered an Award BIOS beep code I do not have documented.
Diagnosis: Award says that any beep patterns other than "one long followed by two short" are likely problems with the system memory. However, of late they have started adding other beep codes to their systems as well.
4.Phoenix BEEP Codes

• 1-1-3
Explanation: Your computer can't read the configuration information stored in the CMOS.
Diagnosis: Replace the motherboard.

• 1-1-4
Explanation: Your BIOS needs to be replaced.
Diagnosis: Got to your motherboard manufacturers web site and download the new Bios.
• 1-2-1
Explanation: You have a bad timer chip on the motherboard.
Diagnosis: Replace the motherboard.
• 1-2-2 or 1-2-3 or 1-3-1 or 1-3-3 or 1-3-4 or 1-4-1
Explanation: Motherboards is bad.
Diagnosis: Replace the motherboard.
• 1-4-2
Explanation: Some of your memory is bad.
Diagnosis: Go to Basic Trouble Shooting
• 1-3-1
Explanation: Motherboards is bad.
Diagnosis: Replace the motherboard.
• 2-_-_ Any combination of beeps after two
Explanation: Some of your memory might be bad.
Diagnosis: Go to Basic Trouble Shooting
• 3-1-_
Explanation: One of the chips on your motherboard is broken.
Diagnosis: Replace the motherboard.
• 3-2-4
Explanation: Keyboard controller failure.
Diagnosis:
• 3-3-4
Explanation: Your computer can't find the video card.
Diagnosis: Is it there? If so, try swapping it with another one and see if it works.
• 3-4-_
Explanation: Your video card isn't working.
Diagnosis: Replace Video Card.

My Samsung fridge is flashing 33 E, 26 E and 8 E. I've tried holding down the top left and right buttons to reset; however, nothing happens. How can I fix this?

https://removeandreplace.com/2015/08/10/samsung-refrigerator-error-codes/

A power outage will make your Samsung fridge show the errors 1E and or SE. If this is the case, simply press the power save and lighting buttons for 10 seconds and the error will clear. OR... press the fridge and freezer buttons at the same time for 10 seconds to reset the control panel and clear the error code.Dec 10, 2016 https://removeandreplace.com/2016/12/10/samsung-refrigerator-flashing-blinking-faults-reset/

Have to slam freezer door to clear 88 error codes on samsung refrigerator

I am not certain on this, but my guess is that you have a problem with the door closed sensor, which should be attached to the door/ light actuating button. It may be faulty, or just out of adjustment. I assume that you have contacted Samsung about what error code 88 is. Do they have any other input? What doesn't make sense is that the fridge turns off. You would think that if the door sensor read "Open door" it would continuously run, rather than shutting off, unless it is causing an overload, or overheating condition. I have had good luck w/ Samsung tech dept., but they can be a little hard to reach. Hope this helps.
