TV switches off by itself, if you switch power on and off at the switch the standby comes back on and stays illuminated for 5-10seconds then you hear the click and it turns itself off, top power button has been bit "iffy" and looks to be collapsed compared to the channel/volume buttons, thanks for any help

Hi Chris,
I used to have the same issues with my 32S3000 but I've managed to fix it by factory reset.
It's described in a different post here:

Good luck.

Hi.
If the red light stays on and TV does not start up, then the TV is in protect mode because an incorrect voltage has been detected.
If the TV instead comes on with the remote, but there is no picture, problem is usually the inverter or in some case the input.
If the TV comes on in stand by ONLY if you use the main switch on TV, then comes with no picture of sound using the remote, that means that the main board is not operating. This may happen because of a defective main board (A board), because of a defective PSU not powering the main board correctly, because of a short in a different board (often the inverter, the tuner or one of input boards).
Other part that may fail is the TCon board, which function is controlling the timing of the LCD panel. This board is difficult to test, but when it fails you usually get vertical lines, false colors or other video defects shortly before the TV shutting down.
If the problem happens only occasionally, check also the wall socket. Bad wall socket grounding will cause malfunction.Ensure that earth and grounding is OK. Test the TV with no devices connected, and using an extension and a different socket.
Most of the times the problem is a defective PSU or a defective main board. Parts must be tested by a technician to find the fault.

unplug for 3-4 hrs. if that doesnt help your powersupply probably bad.
Sorry to say but it sounds like your power supply is bad, although it is possible it is some other components in the TV because turning it off allows all diodes etc to power down completely. Unfortunately after a bit it happens again which leads me to believe again power trouble.
