SC542 is a warm up error from the fuser.
SC 870 is an address book error.
Turn the power off on the copier. Wait 30 seconds and then turn the power back on. See if it goes away.
Let me know if it doesn't.

SC870 = Address Book Data Error. This is most likely a hard drive failure especially considering the power loss. This is about a $175 repair in case you want to call around locally and get estimates to replace the drive. There is an outside chance you can get someone to walk you thru the Service Mode and do the following to reload the address book:
1. Enter the SP mode
2. 5846-50 (Initialize All Address Book)
3. Turn the machine off then on again.

The copies that you take are not saved in the HDD (hard drive). So, the answer is NO.
You can only recover the documents that are stored in the Document Server.

Is it only in copies? If so you need to clean the all scanner (glasses ans mirrors)
If that happens also when you print it could be one of this problems;
-The laser (durt)
-The Magnetic Roller (in the development unit)
-Or the Developer.
The question is: When was the last time that you did a service maintenence??? Maybe you need to do that.
