Common problem with this model is the line output transformer.

SOURCE: When I push the power

I know these sets, did a lot of work on them when new and under extended warranty.

Two common problems:

With the back off look at the black transformer to the right with a big red wire that goes up to the bell of the picture tube: lots of these will arc at the top left side of the part--if you turn the set on and see a brief spark there the Flyback transformer is bad.

These are quite affordable and fairly easy to replace.

The second problem they have is there are about a dozen brown caps in front of the Flyback and one of them "opens" not a short but if it opens voltage etc go up and set shuts down.

8 out of ten times it is the Flyback.

Look closely at the white label on the left side of the flyback--the part number is there!

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

I have not seen many of these sets lately but still have the 3 new remotes my shop gave me.

Hello,

My LOEWE CAL 232 will not power up. When the power button is pressed, the monitor turns on, with the LOEWE on the monitor, then the TV continues with the previous activity (antenna, DVD, VCR etc.). Now all that happens is

1. the red light comes on

2.after about 1 second the green light turns on for about 12 seconds

3. the the green light turns off for about 1 second

4. then the green light turns on again for about 12 seconds

and this continues until the power button is pressed to turn the TV off. During this time, the monitor does not turn on and the only sound I hear seems to eminate from the power button.

Any thoughts?

How do i program my remote

Hello;

Without knowing the codes for the specific brand names and models of your devices, this is how you program the Zenith MBR3447 for your TV, VCR, DVD Player, CD Player or Audio Receiver:

TV

1. Push the "Power" button on the TV to turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "TV" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the TV's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the TV fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the TV does shut off. Each time the "Power" button is pressed the Zenith MBR3447 tries using a different TV device code from its code library to turn the TV off. Therefore, when the TV finally does shut off it's an indication that the remote is temporarily programmed with the correct device code to control the brand of TV you're using.
6. Press "Enter" to save the current code.

VCR

1. Push the "Power" button on the VCR to turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "VCR" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the VCR's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the VCR fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the VCR does shut off. Then press "Enter."

DVD Player, CD Player or Audio Receiver

1. Push the "Power" button on the device your programming the remote to control to manually turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "AUX" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the device's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the device fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the device does shut off. Then press "Enter."

I have a sanyo tv and the remote is no longer functional, i dug out my old urc11a universal controller and would like to know what codes i need to set the controller to my tv.

Try pressing the 'set code' or 'code' button and keep pressing it until the light indicator lights. Press tv and after that you are suppose to enter the 3 or 4 digit code and press enter. However, if you don't know the code, try to repeatedly press the power on button of the remote until you get a response from the tv set. sometimes it would take a hundred times or more before you can get a response. Once you get a response, press enter. I have tried it many times in universal remote controls and it works.

If so you have a Philips universal remote. Here are the steps to find the code that will control the sound on your TV:

1) Turn on the device you want to program into your remote, for example if you are programming your remote to control your TV, then turn on the TV.

2) Press and hold the device button for the device you turned on in step 1 (DVD, AUX, TV, STB) and press OK. Release both buttons. The mode buttons blink twice.

3) Press 922.

4) Point the remote control toward the device you are setting up and press the upper part of the Play button.

5) Press the Fast Forward button. If the device you are setting up does not turn off, keep pressing the Fast Forward button until the device powers off. (You can use the Rewind button to go back, if necessary.)

6) When the device powers off then you've found the correct code for that device. Press OK to assign the code in your remote control.

Note:
There are over 200 possible combinations for TV and DVD codes. The most common codes are tried first but you may still need to press the Fast Forward or Rewind buttons over 200 times to find the correct code for your device.

If you reach the end of the list of codes, the entire remote flashes twice and returns to normal operation. You can exit programming at any time by pressing the Exit button.
