Maintenance tanabe compressors

Lubricant-substitute for Mobil Rarus 427 for lubrication of Tanabe compressor (emergency only, no compressor oil on board of the ship). Is it possible to use for short period of time system oil SAE 30 TBN 6 or hydraulic oil VG 100? Please kindly advise

Looks like a four years old thread. Compressor oil has no detergent while engine oil does. I would use SAE 30 and not hydraulic fluid

Hydraulic oil can not be used as lubricant oil.

1. Hydraulic oil is mainly used in all kinds of hydraulic oil systems. Its viscosity grade is determined by the working condition of hydraulic system. The additives used are anti-oxygen, anti-rust, anti-wear and so on, which are quite different from internal combustion engine oils. Therefore, we must not use hydraulic oil as oil.

2. In the field of application, hydraulic oil is mainly used in the field of industrial lubricating oil, while oil is generally used in the field of automobile, which is some difference in the field of use. From the external color point of view, the hydraulic oil color is generally golden transparent body, while the oil is relatively blue in color.

3, from the point of view of manufacturing, the general hydraulic oil is a semi-finished oil, they have a remarkable characteristic of high pressure resistance, the manufacturing process is slightly worse than the oil. One of the most remarkable features of oil is lubrication. The internal microstructure of oil is smaller than that of hydraulic oil, and its viscosity is generally higher than that of hydraulic oil.

SOURCE: overheating? burnt oil smell

There is a seal between the compressor and the motor that in failed condition will leak oil into motor windings causing burnt oil smell. Some hitachi compressors suffered from failed valves or head gasket causing extra heat but not oil smell. These compressors also have a thermobreaker built into the windings that when failed will prevent motor from starting or would start and run for only a few moments then open. This part is not replaceable. enjoy

SOURCE: HUSKY PRO AIR COMPRESSOR 30 GAL I NEED TO KNOW HOW

Depends on what plan it was made in...
If you have the glass type sight... Only to the max you can see (top of site), then run it for a few mins, let it sit for a few more mins then add more if the level is near the bottom of the sight glass.

If it's the dipstick model that pushed in, there will be an upper and a lower level mark (holes, or checkered section) Keep it between the top and bottom marks.

Finally if it's the older screw-in type, remove the dipstick and wipe it. Set it back in BUT don't screw it in. Keep within the range on the dipstick from that position. Then of course screw it back in/

Good luck

I have a 1999 fatboy what oil do I use in engine, trans & primary?

On a '99 Fatboy, you can use H-D Syn3 20W50 engine oil in all three locations. But, you can use most any lubricant you wish as long as it meets Harley's specifications. Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil V-Twin, just check the manufacturer's website for compatibility. On the Evo engines, I use H-D or Mobil V-Twin synthetic 20W50 engine oil. I use nothing but H-D transmission and primary lubricant in those two locations.

Good Luck

Will ac compressor make noise when freon is low. there is a chirping sound coming from what sounds like the compressor. it has new belt , water pump, idler pulley, tesioner and alternator...

yes it can. this may mean the death of the compressor is inevitable, has been filled with the wrong refrigerant/lubricant, or it is low on refrigerant. you have to determine what type of refrigerant is needed, (usually R12 or R134) and use the correct lubricant, if the refrigerant does not have the lubricant already in it. every time a compressor is filled with refrigerant, it also needs th be filled with lubricant, and most, but not all, commercial refrigerants include lubricant. if there is a leak in your system, you can use soapy water in a spray bottle to find the leaky hose/connection.

Got a 79 trans am and am replacing the a/c compressor that came with no oil. have a retrofit kit that have refrigerant and oil mix together. Is that all I need or do I need to put additional lubricant in...

you will have to ad additional oil to the ac system, many use esteroil or what some call universal pag oil. get a measuring cup, dump the oil out of the old compressor and make sure you add the same amount back into the new compressor. hope that helped you!
