yes it can be fixed, the brushes on the motor are worn out. take it to a vacuum shop and they'll replace the brushes at a fraction of the cost of a new machine
Dust or dirt on the zoom track or damaged motor use in manual focus and get it fixed asap,you may damage your body if you AF motor has to strain to focus so maual focus it untill its fixed .
It is not your camera, it is your lens, The af lens trying to engage and the gears are grinding. Just for verification go to your nearest camera store and try a different lens on your camera. They will not shake like yours.
I have got the same issue.
It sounds like when a motor goes past a point and can't go no further.
I don't know anything about cameras and there internal workings, but when you extend the focus ring all the way our and turn the camer on, the camera will not make that noise until the focus ring is back to it's full in position....
