Sony Trinitron Wega 32 inch. Hard time powering up. eventually started but now it doesn't. Red stand by light flashes nine times, stops and restarts again but tv never powers up. Any ideas that I can fix myself? Thanks
If your a novice at TV repair don't try it. A Sony authorized repair station knows what this problem is and should be cheaper in the long run for them to repair it.
You DO NOT NEED a power supply board. I am a SONY authorized service center and have replaced a small part in the power supply on the main board It should not cost that much. ruulds2008 is misleading you.
No and 8.00 to15.00 depending on shipping Have a Sony tech do.
You don't want to be out of a job if everybody fixes there own cars do you ? TV repair is by flat fee around 150.00 to 220.00 labor depending on area.

Well if you know eletronics then yes you could fix it yourself otherwise leave it to the experts you going to need a new power supply unti for this TV. These are not cheap as there aftermarket you may want to try to find a dealer on the internet for this part. Thanks
Btw, Iām available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/edwy_1a56970cf1ea4620
You got a power supply problem. It is a chip that need replacing but I won't recommend if you don't know the technigue of removing a chip & soldering in the new part without damaging the printed circuits. astrotech

I'm a GM certified tech at Chevrolet but I don't know squat about TV's. I thought maybe it was just a power supply issue like on a PC.
Thanks for the tip on my Sony. I'll look into power supplys and if too pricey I'll just get a new LCD unit.

Can I purchase the part and install it myself or do I have to have a Sony tech do it?
How much is the part and what exactly is it?
Thanks
Thanks, I was just trying to save some money. At CHevrolet we charge 109.00 per hour so I figure a Sony Tech in home service will be pricey.
