No agitation on extra rinse cycle on Maytag Washing Machine MAV8557AWW
MAV8557AWW washer has an extra rinse feature. If the switch is on there is an extra rinse cycle added after the normal cycle is finished. It currently fills with water, sits idle for awhile, spins and drains. Is this the way it is supposed to work or is there supposed to be some agitation during the period where it is currently sitting idle? The normal rinse cycle does include agitation. Assuming the extra cycle is also supposed to have agitation does anyone know what might be wrong? I checked the user manual and it does not say anything about this. I don't have access to a service manual. Thanks.

hi Melanie.
this is all i could find out.
If the water won't drain out of your washing machine, either something is stuck in the drain hose or pump, or the pump is broken. Both fixes are simple if you're even just a little bit handy with tools. We're showing the repair on a Maytag washing machine. If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drive washing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle Washer Doesnt Agitate or Spin Maytag Washing Machines will not rinse or spin Google Search
I had the same issue. When I started the machine it began agitating and then began to fill as if it is beginning the second rinse cycle - well I think it was.... SO, I threw in some towels and began the cycle at the second rinse part of the cycle. Low and behold, the next load started and finished just fine.
I hope this helps. This is just one of many issues with this machine, but luckily I haven't had to call the repairman yet! They all seem to revolve around the thing being out of sync.
maytag washer dryer stack unit , model # lse7806ace washer fills with water but won't agitate or do anything else. I had the same problem a year ago and replace the lid switch asssemby and fuse and it worked fine until now. the switch clicks when I open and close the lid and the pink and orange wires show continuity with the lid closed.
I think that you mean "Agitate" some of the time that you write "Spin" Yes?
If I understand you correctly, you have no agitation during the "wash" cycle, this is almost certainly a corroded agitator shaft seized up in the transmission.
