The cable is not allowing it to go into these gears.more than likely a new cable is the resolution .

Sounds like the reverse band or servo has gone out. Transmission shop needed for a confirmation.

the shifter wont move, or moves to park but park does not work?
try to be clear.
are you on flat ground?
are you against a curb
did you wiggle the steering and turn the key and wiggle the shifter to park? at once.

there is thing called park lock out but works moving from P/N to gears active, R/D/L. usually going to N/P is no problem. unless cables are rusty.

your column eather shot or check your linkige from your column to tranney

probably you need to reprogram the transmission

if it won't engage reverse the trans will need to be overhauled, the rev clutch has failed inside the trans.

it sounds like your gearshift cable is broken..if you can jack up vehicle and support it safely,get someone to move shifter and look on driver's side of transmission and see if linkage is moving on trans..linkage is up near top of trans..i have seen this problem before
